Staples and Thumbs

So, the post-work run was about 10x harder than the 5am run. I think it’s just my body’s natural clock. It likes mornings better. However, when I came home to clock my total miles, I realized that my loop was actually 4.5 miles – which makes my total for today around 9 miles. Not bad for a Wednesday.

I’ll make this quick because I’m slowly turning into a zombie.

Lunch was awesome. So were snacks.

A mom in my class brings me a mocha every Wednesday – I appreciate it so much. She probably has no idea how much I look forward to that Kunjani deliciousness. Today was a white mocha, and I pretty much chugged it.

The Lara bar was my fave – peanut butter cookie. Ingredients: dates, peanuts, salt. How DO they do it?

In the cottage cheese container…

I am guessing there was ½ cup cottage cheese left. I added ½ cup garbanzo beans, ½ cup green beans, 4-5 black olives and some salt and pepper. It was heavenly.

Then around 2:30 (the kiddos were getting sweaty and stinky at PE) – I had 3 of the best cookies ever.

Wheat Germ Balls

It’ just now 8pm, and I am starting to feel some stomach growling, which doesn’t usually happen when I run in the evening. I didn’t expect to have dinner tonight…but it might just happen! Whohoo!

Funny story – I stapled my thumb to one of my student’s papers today. It was a complete and utter fiasco in the room. I got blood on his worksheet and he was freaking out, and the rest of the class was leaping on desks and chairs, trying to get a peek at the gore. Needless to say, we didn’t learn anything for the rest of the day…

  1. I’m a little afraid to admit this in food blogland, but i’ve never tried cottage cheese! I’ve always assumed I wouldn’t like it, mostly because I like my fruit plain or with yogurt… But you are making me really want to mix it with something savory. We shall seee..

That is so sweet of that mother!! I stapled my thumb on parent-teacher night once, like all the way in, bar flush with my skin. It bled everywhere and a student had to help me rip it out! I hope your thumb is feeling ok now!

I know, I am so fortunate to have good parents. I am sure your school was 100 times different than mine. Also – my thumb staple wasn’t NEAR that bad! Yikes!

Haha, the finger is fine. But thank you for the well wishes! It only hurt for like an hour. I usually don’t eat before runs because i have a really finicky stomach, but this afternoon I was feeling good and had some dry puffins. They sat well! Morning runs are always on an empty tummy for me. :-)

Oh yikes! When I read this post title I was like “uh oh…I hope this isn’t what it sounds like!” Sorry there girlie :( Hope it heals fast!

Congrats on the 9 miles. 9 miles is not so bad for a Wednesday at all. Or a Monday, or a Tuesday…or any day really!

And I agree. HOW DOES Larabar do it?!

I’m sorry but I laughed when I read the part about your finger…only cause I can picture the scene and wondering why I didn’t hear about this…maybe A wasn’t in there? ;D Ok so I’ll be like everyone else (and not sadistic) and wish your finger well. ;D
