Colorado decided to boycott fall, and move right on to winter. I’m pretty upset about it.

Like a moron, I promised my kiddos that we could go out for extra recess this afternoon – so I stood in the blowing snow for a good 30 minutes. Miserable.
Let’s move on to a more pleasant subject.
My ex-Chinese student presented me with this box this morning…

Not fried rice….

Homemade caramel corn! She even wrote down the ingredients for me:

Very fresh tasting and every kernel was delicious.
Not only did this student bribe me with sweets, but her sense of curiosity allowed for some comic relief in the middle of a long day. In the middle of a silently working class she blurted out:
“Mrs. Unger…why are you NOT famous?”
I wasn’t really sure what she meant by this, and because we were in the middle of taking a spelling test, I didn’t ask for clarification, but instead I just said “I don’t know” and told her to turn her voice off.
Moving on (backwards) to my real lunch.

Because the can was so dented and deformed, this sucker was on sale!

It was pretty good for canned soup – but it didn’t really fill me up at all, so I was really thankful for the caramel corn.
Dinner has no explanation…except hunger…so I will just show and not tell.

Broccoli cheese soup.

Black beans, corn, green chilies, salsa and chips.
Because I essentially did no cooking today (and because I love cookies) – I am off to bake! I think a snowy night during the first week of October merits cookie baking…
Yeah, I’m not too happy about the snow. Ugh! What happened to fall???
Oooh I know your not pleased but it looks so pretty! I love snow and especially the first snowfall of the season but of course you want to get fall in before winter comes! I love hearing your stories about school…”ex-chinese” student…hahaha
I LOVE YOUR CHINESE STUDENT!!! I think you ARE famous!!
Hhaha, maybe in the 3rd grade world I am.
I know what I am having for a snack today, POPCORN! Kids say the darnedest things! Way to save a dollar but sucky it didn’t fill your tum up. Have fun beating the cold!

I know, my kiddos are amazingly sweet (well, their parents are).
I made the bean/corn salsa, but it was canned black beans, canned corn, store bought salsa. I just combined, mashed and warmed. Easy peasy.
I seriously can’t wrap my mind around the fact that you have snow!

Snow. Yeah. Where did fall go? Oh and what was up with this summer??? Nothing makes sense in this state this year!!
That student’s comment is the cutest thing, kids are so funny. The caramel corn w/the ingredient list is awesome, I love that you get all these cute little gifts.
