Free Food Fest Continues

First of all – this is my best friend modeling a shirt with lyrics from one of my all time favorite songs. She’s so hot; I had to put it out there.

I wasn’t really hungry this morning, so I had a little bit of my leftover pumpkin pie in a bowl from last night with a little cottage cheese. I also added some fantastic biscotti to go along with it. Thank you to the wonderful baking moms in my class!

Then snacked on these all morning…

We also had our monthly donated LUNCH FEAST at school. I tell ya, those moms can really throw together a good spread.

I had mostly salads (all awesome) and ½ a baked potato. Delish -all of it. I am so blessed.

For dessert I had a little square of German chocolate cake (which I ate too quickly to photograph) and a wonderfully gooey mess of chocolate cream pie.

ALSO – a very kind mom in my class emptied out her refrigerator and brought me the perishables before she and her family left on vacation. How considerate is that!? Again – so blessed.

(For the record, Tona, I tried to share with some other teachers – but they told me to keep it all…I tried!)

For dinner, I had one of my favorite things…veggies. Brussels sprouts and butternut squash, with nutmeg and hummmmmus.

Nothing better. Nothing, I tell you.

In college, I used to do just about anything
for free food. I think I signed up for 6 different credit cards just for a slice or free pizza for each. I never used the cards, but definitely ate the pizza. I also stood in a lot of long lines. Now it is literally being handed to me every day – just for doing my job!

What have you done (would you do!) for good free food?

  1. I am SO jealous of all of your free food! High school kids and their moms are totally over it…

I have a serious problem with free food, I can’t say no! I used to make rounds in the mall to get all the samples at least twice and have a sixth sense about when there are free donuts or cake around the hospital. I have recently been trying to reign in this obsession and have been mostly successful. The worst part about my love for free food is that I like all the bad stuff. In my mind if it’s free it doesn’t really count, you know what I mean? Your lunch spread put on by the Mom’s looks incredible! And lucky for you to get all those healthy vegetables!

I get scarily excited about free food! In college I always tried to do a walk-through of random events with food set out :) P.S. You have amazing school parents, they sound so fun!

I’ve gone to boring dinner parties for the free food haha. Honestly you work at the best school ever! I’m pretty sure the teachers at my elementary & high school never got the good lunch spreads that you get.

A table of desserts like that is DANGEROUS for me! Looks like a great lunch! And I always feel like if something is free that means you HAVE to partake…a lot!

Hhaa, I sometimes have the same problem – but the moms do this for us once a month, so I always have to tell myself “there will be MORE free food, you don’t have to eat it ALL right now.”

Btw the veggies were hand picked by my kiddos at Miller Farms a working farm up north. Mark you calendar to go up towards the end of September and you can harvest onions, taters, peppers, maters(southern slang), corn on cob(60 ears that you wrap in foil in the husk and freeze), pumpkins, brussel sprouts(first year), broccoli, cilantro! And a pumpkin for $10 each and you get 6 bags!! Go!! U can go now but will not get as much…website: http://www.millerfarms.net/us/fallfest.html

Free FOOD: I manipulate coupons at one site http://www.couponmom.com or http://www.grocerygame.com b/c we have dietary needs/allergies and I like healthy/organic too. I watch ads, price match and work my menu around food! I buy 1/4 cow organic each fall…

We use free nights, free passes, free coupons, we share meals and this week I used my bday coupons for McDonalds, Baskin Robbins and Cold Stone to by treats for the kids when I picked them up! Google free bday offers and sign up for Red Robin, and many more. Ben and I ate Free burger platter and ice cream(my bday) and I upgraded to garlic fries(bottomless) so I took home extra free fries to Graci(gluten free) for 53c REALLY!
