I woke up at 5:00 this morning, all ready to do the shred and go to work. Just to be sure, I looked our district’s website to check for a delay (that I was pretty sure wasn’t going to happen) and low and behold…another snow day. Really? This is a bit much. I’m all for a few days off of work, but because of fall break – I have only worked 2 out of the last 12 days. I’m a little tired of sitting on my butt and watching TV. Plus, we had oodles of fun Halloween activities planned for today. C’est la vie.
I tried to go back to sleep – but no luck, so I made coffee and ate one of the pastries I made last night.
I usually like my coffee black – but I was feeling the milk this morning. I also added cinnamon. It was yummy.
Then I shoveled the driveway and sidewalk (I like to think of it as my 2 hour workout) and took the doggels for a walk. We were slippin’ and slidin’ all over the place and I was really grateful that I didn’t have to drive on the skating-rink-like-streets to get to school. They hadn’t even plowed our roads at this point.
I got back about 9:30 and asked Meeker if he thought it was too early for lunch. He assured me that it wasn’t.
A tuna melt, of sorts. This was a ww pita, with tuna and cheddar cheese, popped under the broiler for about 5 minutes. It was fairly tasty…it was missing something but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
With nothing else to do at this point, I went back to bed and read for a while before falling asleep.
When I woke up, the sun was shining (!!!), so I took the puppy for another walk. When we got back around 1:30 – I was hungry again.
½ a cucumber, 1 carrot, a few grilled artichokes (from a jar) and lots-o-hummus. Such a good snack.
At about 4pm, the snow on the roads was rapidly melting – and Meeker and I decided to celebrate our freedom with a dinner out. At 4:00pm.
We went to a place called Mark Pi’s (they tell you when you walk in the door that it is pronounced like Mark Pees. Or you could think of it as peas if you are a bit more mature than I am) and I got the Miss Vietnamese Salad. It was enormous, and had tons of chicken, shrimp and veggies. I ate about ¾ before I was full. I had ordered this salad before, and it wasn’t as flavorful as I remembered.
A trip to Sprouts rounded out our rowdy Friday evening. I got a pound of steel cut oats, and I think I may have to make Senorita Sarah’s ice cream oats a little later this evening – considering I at dinner at 4pm.

What would you do if you were stuck inside for 3 days?
Katie

Yay for freedom! I still cannot believe you have so much snow over there already– it’s barely cold over in NYC, which is also a little weird.
Welllllllll, if I was stuck in the house for three days, I would eat a LOT of snacks, and watch a lot of the Food Network and Netflixed Halloween-y shows… Oh wait, that IS what I’m doing… 4 more days to go, woo!
Hope you have a great Friday dear, and thanks again for the card!

Haha, I guess I shouldn’t complain about being stuck for just 3 days. You win.
I love the sound of your day with the early morning and then a relaxing nap only to wake up and eat some more delicious food. Is your husband a teacher as well? I am assuming he didn’t have to work either. Probably by the third day home I would try and attempt one of my closet organization projects which I can never do on a sunny day and always seem to avoid on the rainy/snowy ones.
Actually I DID organize my closet on Tuesday – funny you said that.
well we watched tv and played lego star wars on xbox.
I tried to do some designing but w the kids there I couldn’t get into the groove.
Well, we should be back in action by Monday.
I think eventually I would start cleaning. In fact, being stuck in my house for three days might be the only thing that would inspire me to clean. Maybe we’ll get a freak snowstorm here in GA.
Does your dog like the snow? I don’t know that mine has seen snow. He’s afraid of water though, so who knows. (Which is weird since he’s a golden retriever and supposed to, you know, retrieve stuff from the water.)
Haha, I did get a some cleaning done – a closet organized, and some laundry finished.
My dog LOVES the snow. She can’t get enough of it… I have some pictures of us playing in the snow that I posted a few days ago.
i get so crazy after a whlie being stuck in the house. i’m a total movie buff so i probably would have sat on the couch and watched movies!

Your puppy must love you so much for all the walks he’s getting! If I was stuck in the house I would defs be eating lots and lots of snacks and watchin to much tv. Last year at christmas we had a major snow fall and our street didn’t get plowed for like three days so we had a good foot of snow/ice on our road – no bueno!
stuck inside for 3 days?!?!?! I would have one clean room, and closet, and bathroom and probably clean out all the clutter!! it could be a productive 3 days that for sure!!
Wow, three snow days in a row? I can’t believe it! I know what you mean about feeling antsy after a while. I get that way towards the end of summer as well.
Those pastries look awesome!!
Being stuck in a house for three days because of the snow…I’d love it! I would watch movies, read books, cuddle and eat warm comfy food.
)
But I know I would get bored
its like summer vacation – the first couple weeks are great, then boredom sets in. i am glad you enjoyed your senior dinner out (i do that ALL the time) – that salad looks spectacular. and no shame for a 9:30am lunch either
You just misssed us at Mark Pi’s on Friday! We were there at 5pm b4 we went to the church harvest party which was so disorganized we left
But our cousins were in town so the kids loved being home. I cleaned today like crazy after the guest left at 830am! We are not ready for reality but I have all my November things done: meals planned, chore chart and Thanksgiving decor up!! We made chorizo chili today too. It was yummy and you will smell it this week in Graci’s thermos! ha Tomorrow she is having kiebalsa and taters!! A warm you to the toes meal. Enjoy the week and hey get back to work would ya?
Hah, I’m not sure I’m ready for reality either! We’ve only been at school 2 out of the last 14 days! It’s like a mini-Christmas vacation.
Can’t believe we just missed you at Mark Pi’s!! Glad you all had a good week…can’t wait to smell the kielbasa and ‘taters tomorrow.
