Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and fillet gumbo…

I can’t even tell you how much I enjoyed myself. Not only was the gym unbelievably nice, but the spin studio was out of control! While spinning (in a room with about 50 bikes!) the instructor put on a movie (muted with subtitles) to distract us. The spin music was pumping, the instructor was pushing us, I was sweating, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith was playing on an enormous screen.

Talk about motivation. Staring at Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie only made me peddle faster…in hopes of looking as attractive and fit as either of them. I plan to go back to the same class two more times this week. Nothing like knocking out a stellar workout before the sun comes up.
Before the class, I had a lot of water and a piece of toast with peanut butter and banana slices. Good fuel.
My real breakfast was yogurt +banana + the best cereal

I love breakfast.
Lunch was eaten quickly in the lounge before running to pick up my kids from lunch. I had recess duty and I was late. It was a sweet potato with yogurt and a few bites of leftover enchilada.
Snack at 3pm

Tortilla with peanut butter, cinnamon and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper – thanks to Kate for the new spicy addition, I loved it.
Dinner tonight was a new recipe – Jumbalaya

Found inside a mail order spice catalog.

I couldn’t stop singing this song as I was making this.
I ended up adding a handful of lettuce to cool things down and add a little more green.

Aaand it’s Tuesday night which means The Biggest Loser is on! I am off to watch it, but not before…
Highlights from the 3rd grade world…
It was a cursing day in Mrs. Unger’s room. Not me…the 8 year olds. There is something funny about kids cursing (or unintentionally flipping off their teacher) – and I always have to stifle a laugh. The first incident was when a boy mistakenly read the word sharecroppers as sharecrappers about five different times. The second one was much more deliberate. A little girl in my class got a shitzu puppy (yeah, you can probably already see where this is going) and one of my students raised her hand and said “Mrs. Unger, do you know that when you have a shitzu puppy, and you take the zu away…you are just left with shit”

LOL that 3rd grader with the puppy sounds like a hoot.
Um yeah. That’s exactly what my husband says about our Rat Terrier/Shitzu mix. Gosh! I hope that wasn’t MY child! If it was I am in some SERIOUS trouble…or HE IS!
See you Thursday at spin…..that Icelandic yogurt was sour/different but I will have it in my smoothie tomorrow!
All I have to say about your 3rd grade tales: Oh shit–zu!
And I hope my kid never does that…of course she can thanks to our visitor sing the Dead Barney song…lovely!
BLoser…is waiting on me too! That girl made m mad tonight with her attitude…..attitude=altitude!!!
That’s interesting that your instructor put on a movie during the class! I like to do that on the treadmill, watching something while listening to my iPod. It really does distract you well!
A movie during spin class jealous!! I have to agree kids swearing is absolutely hilarious!
My hubby and I love Mr and Mrs Smith. I think I would probably laugh if those kids were cursing, too…
LOL at your stories! Um..I had a student accidentally call Confucius “Con-F**K-us” and I laughed out loud for a good 3 minutes. I seriously could not stop!
I love that idea of watching a movie while spinning; it’s such a killer workout that I really need a distraction!
Cayenne with your peanut butter? I’m totally intrigued….
That spin class sounds amazing! Mr. and Mrs. Smith probably is the best gym motivator on earth. My husband and I always laugh at that movie because he has a boy crush on him and I have a girl crush on her!

That fight/love scene between those 2 in the movie is intense. Imagine working out while watching that!
Awesome workout inspiration!!
Glad you liked the cayenne/cinnamon combo on the tortilla. Doesn’t it take so comforting and filling with the added spice?
Just reading these 3rd grade stories make me cringe! LOL.
Oh on those tortillas I posted about yesterday – you can always use a rolling pin (or a wine bottle!) to thin them out.
Awesome workout! I love spin class but I can only imagine that it would be better with a movie on!
Your third grade world is the best! Thanks for the smiles!
we have a cardio cinema at my gym but ive never tried it out. maybe i will the next time an appealing movie is on! i just usually need upbeat music to get me goin’
super cute mug and i LOVE nature’s path cereals!! haha~ gotta love it when kids say swear words. it is all i can do not to laugh!
Hahahaha, I love your 3rd graderisms. Makes me smile
That jambalaya looks great, and I love the cayenne idea!
[...] salad dressed with hummus, leftover jambalaya and half a banana nut muffin that I swiped from the staff [...]
ummm, so i MUST try adding some cayenne to peanut butter asap. that sounds amazingg!!!!!!!!!!!
and agreed–angelina + brad were soooo gorg in that movie….too bad she’s super frail now and he’s got some loooooong-a$$ beard!!!! haha
Your kids! LOL I love em. I also love the sound of your spinning class with a movie showing, I think I might like spinning better if mine did that too!
i love your kid stories…
