I guess all of those early morning spin classes caught up with me today. Not only was I exhausted, but I was the hungriest I have been in a long time.
(By the way, spinning was awesome again this morning – hardest class yet. Plus, we watched a Warren Miller film, which reminded me of my college days when I used stalk and follow Jeremy Bloom around campus.)
Backtrack to before the workout…
Bread with peanut butter and banana slices

Afterwards, I refueled with a green monster.

½ banana, lemon juice, spinach, and milk – easy and yummy. I thought I was full after this…hah, little did I know.
About 9:30, I had a hunger attack. When I say attack – I mean it. I thought I was going to pass out if I didn’t eat something (anything) soon. I hadn’t packed any snacks (lesson learned!!) so I went to the staff lounge in search of something. I ended up stuffing my face with crap – a chocolate muffin (the size of my head), about a pound of pineapple and a heart shaped neon pink cookie (Lord knows what it was made of) – I was still starving afterwards, so I drank a gallon of water, and was still famished. However, I couldn’t really do much more about it – so I just waited it out until lunchtime when I came home and filled up with fiber.

A sweet potato with black beans, yogurt and spicy mustard.
Thankfully, I felt full after inhaling this, and I stayed that way until dinnertime, which was a Rachael Ray recipe – it only took me 30 minutes! (Usually RR’s thirty minute meals take me about an hour – I’m a slow cook, I guess)
Chicken and Broccoli

I really wish that had been brown rice – but white was what we had. The other side is chicken and broccoli with some Asian flair.
All mixed up with siracha…

Now, I am enjoying the night with Meeker, some Starbucks, and The Big Lebowski

Happy Friday.

So when you are done with your week pass go to the rec center at 5:30 spin..The class is good but not the set up that Lifetime has..their room is amazing but the rec is cheap! After talking to you I decided I am going to try again to do the classes in the morning again but I will just come to school sweaty..do you think the kids will notice? I love spin..the rec also has a good evening spin class with Kris Eaton..she is tough!
as a fellow spin fanatic i can completely relate to the hunger attack: watch out when it strikes! and does your spin class show warren millen films? spinning to ski movies?
ps. LOVE warren miller. how awesome would it have been to see him narrate live like he did in the “old” days!
Mmm. Your chicken and Broccoli looks amazing. Are her 30 minute meal recipes available online or just in her cookbooks? I would love to try and make that. It looks really healthy but just as yummy!
Yum…chicken and broccoli recipe looks amazing! Have you put up that recipe before? Maybe I missed it…
So you watch movies while you’re spinning?? At my old gym we just had an instructor who talked to us while listening to music.
Your sweet potato combo looks great. I may try something similar today.
That dinner looked awesome!!!
Sorry you had a hunger attack!!
Fantastic day of eats!
I totally understand the energy level thing- it takes me about two weeks to get into it, before I don’t feel like falling asleep at 3pm in the afternoons.
Give it next week too, you’ll feel entirely different (and make sure you’re getting sleep in!)
I’ve wanted to see The Big Lebowski after hearing about it a lot on Ace Of Cakes. I think I need to rent it now
warren miller makes great films. LOVE that potato concoction. super creative! glad you got some eats and did not pass out
love ya!
I had a hunger day like that earlier this week – by 10am it was all I could think about! I had do do some digging to find an old Larabar in my desk so I wouldn’t get into my lunch too early! I have the same experience with RR recipes – I think she just moves a lot faster than I do!
Rachel Ray’s recipes take me way longer than she says too! I’m liking the beans on top of a sweet potato idea. Have a good weekend!
haha…hangry beast moments are never pretty! i get those too, and its like watch the hell out – mama is hungry! i think its good you decided to listen and eat food. we can’t eat perfect all the time and sometimes a huge ass chocolate muffin just tastes sooooo good! loving the looks of that rachael recipe – off to check that out right now!
AH! Sweet potato, yoghurt, and black beans. Three of my most favorite foods all made better by combining them into one meal.
Black beans and sweet potato=perfect! I spend a bit of time in the kitchen too, no worries.
i recently rewatched “the big lebowski” – it’s such a great film!
Thanks for your sweet comment!
Mmm that chick and brocc recipe looks delicious.. I always like Rachael’s meals, but have been wary to get her cookbook b/c I wasn’t sure how healthy her food was. Your din is enough to change my mind though.. Btw, I’m a SUPER slow cook haha you’re not alone.
Happy weekend!
