A Nice Little Saturday

Happy Saturday!

Here is the latest thing I have been loving. I woke up around 1am last night (after going to bed early) and was hungry – so I made myself a bowl (or two) of this mess. This morning, I wanted more. Who needs milk when you can have applesauce on your cereal? (Okay, I need milk, I love it – but this was really good, too)

Then I took my pup on a vigorous bike ride in the cold Colorado air. After we were both adequately exercised, I parked it on the couch for a lot of the afternoon to watch Psych – coffee in hand, spandex and tennis shoes still on.

Look by my feet – there’s a spoon sitting on the couch. Meeker threw it at me, and it sat there pretty much all afternoon. Silly boys.

I love my mug, and my hat (in my eyes). And my matching blue fleece.

I eventually got hungry again, and I bulked up some leftovers that we had from our dinner out at PF Changs last night. (Still living off those Christmas gift cards…people know we like to eat.)

I ordered Mongolian beef last night – and this afternoon I sautéed cabbage, carrots, red peppers, and scallions and added the leftover beef and brown rice to the veggie mix.

Pretty colors. Amazing taste.

After cleaning the house, I felt snacky– and I satisfied my snack tooth and my sweet tooth with some dessert!

That’s vanilla ice cream with the last of my peanut butter cup trail mix – which I got out of the bulk bins at Sprouts. There also may be a little pecan cookie tucked behind the ice cream. I found a batch of frozen cookies (that I made about a month ago) hiding behind the ice cream in the freezer.

What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday? You pretty much just saw mine…

  1. That’s pretty much my favorite way to spend a saturday too! And your hat looks adorable. Do you feel like the cereal gets softer in the mess or stays crunchy? It looks tasty but I like the way milk softens up the cereal.

  2. Your Saturday was pretty similar to mine! Exercise + food + couch = Heaven. I even ate a tasty cottage cheese & berry snack out of those SAME ICE CREAM BOWLS… I love those bowls, and the little blue spoons that go with them!! Ice cream tastes better out of those bowls for sure!!
    OXOX

  3. I’m pretty sure your Saturday is my exact ideal Saturday. Some exercise, some relaxing, some spoon throwing (silly, silly boys) and lots of good food and coffee :)

I’m glad you had such a good day!! I smiled pretty much the entire time I read this post.

And your hat?! I’m in love.

I hope your Sunday goes just as well as your Saturday!

PS – I want that peanut butter cup trail mix with all my heart. I’m going to have to do some investigating online…

  4. Okay. Jealous. I miss Colorado enough as it is and then you have to throw the comment about the air and this peanut butter cup trail mix in? Kashi cereal rocks!

  5. Hey, get your feet off the couch!

Kidding. You look very cozy there.

I spent my Saturday on the couch too. My husband and I watched “The Hangover” and ordered a pizza. Woo-hoo!

MAN, do I want Chinese food now!

  6. I’m glad we are not the only ones who ask for restaurant giftcards at Christmas time! In fact, we are going to use one next Friday night for my husband’s birthday! Some people hate giftcards as gifts, but I LOVE ‘em.

  7. Seriously, how cute are you in your hat? Adorable!

Your dream Saturday sounds similar to mine. I would want to sleep in, maybe go out for breakfast, and then spend the rest of the day with my DVR.

  8. Saturdays are great! I love waking up, getting a run in, drinking lots of coffee, taking the dogs for a walk and watching Food Network :) Sounds like you had a great Saturday. Did the spoon ever make it to the dishwasher? Love that you are still loving your hat!!! And a matching fleece to boot!
