First of all, it’s snowing like crazy right now. And I don’t have a delay or a closure or anything. I’m a little terrified of the drive into work – but it’s only about a mile, so I’m sure I will make it.
Second, I started to make oatmeal after my workout, I put extra, extra water in the pan, turned it waaay low, and went upstairs to get ready for work. When I came back down (30 minutes later) – I was faced with a burnt, sticky mess on the stove. Somehow the oats boiled over (despite the big pot and low heat) and made a nasty mess. Boo – no oats this morning.
However, it did give me an excuse to eat my latest obsession – something I have dubbed cereal mash.

- 1 cup Kashi Honey Sunshine
- ¼ cup puffed rice
- ¼ cup applesauce
- Sprinkle of chocolate chips
- Sprinkle of coconut
- 1 tbs. almond butter
Mix it all up and make a mess…

Yummm. The applesauce makes the cereal kind of mushy, but not as soggy as milk does. It is perfection. I’m kind of glad my oats burned this morning.

And some coffee (labeled in case I forget what I’m drinking).
I will leave you with a picture of my sweet pup enjoying the snow when it started yesterday morning…

I love that little face.
Hope your Mondays aren’t too messy!!
Stay safe driving girl! I am loving your cereal mash – I may give it a try!
I have NEVER had good luck making oats on the stove. I love your cute coffee cup. And your cute dog.
Ack! Burnt oats on a pot are the worse! But at least there’s coffee. And a doggy that understands you perfectly.
I have never ever made stovetop oats, I always use the microwave. Am I kicked out of blogging for saying that?! I hope you get to school today without incident.
If that were my alternative breakfast I would be glad my oats burned too
And I LooOoOoOve that coffee mug!
Happy Monday Friend, I hope it goes by quickly for you!!
I hope your drive is ok – thats the only part about the snow that bothers me!
Your dog is adorable!
Considering my beloved Colts lost…it is already a messy monday!!
Ohhh I hope you get a snow day this week!
I’m so jealous of you Americans and all your kashi cereals. I swear to god, I’m crossing that border for the grocery stores- not the outlet malls! haha maybe both!
I have never thought of having apple sauce with cereal! It looks yummy I’m totally going to try this!
Your dog is so cute!
I’m scared of driving in the snow too! Be careful.
Sorry about the oats. I hate when food burns! But your cereal mash looks incredible!
Our two dogs absolutely LOVE the snow as well. In fact, we can’t even take our black lab out when it is snowing b/c all he does is jump up in the air and catch snowflakes! He won’t even go pee!
Drive safely!! And slowly
We are getting hit with some major snow today too. I was slipping and slidding during my walk in to work.
Love the breakie this morning too.
Stay safe while driving in the snow. Mmm.. cereal messes are one of my favorite breakfasts!! Second only to bread w/Nutella
I’ve definitely dealt with some microwave oat explosions before- it happens to the best of us! That cereal looks like a yummy replacement, though
Hope you got to work safely!
Happy “not-snow day” at school! I didn’t get one either… but the big flakes floating down are beautiful.
Punky is adorable. I bet she loves rompin around in all that white stuff.
You’re inspiring me to break from the milk on cereal routine!
Well that is never fun to clean up! I find vinegar works best, just pour some on, let it set for 5 minutes and scrub away! I burn things, a lot…
BLECK, snow! NO mas! I hope you had a safe drive to school!!

Ooh how long did it take to get the oats off? Did Meeker work on that project today? I love oats with crunchy pbutter(from you) idea! NOthing fancy over here this week. Both kids begged to stay home and help me. I almost gave in when I woke up to snow! xoxox tw
cereal mash sounds amazing, i am going to have to try that.
ohhh i love the idea of an apple mess (as opposed to a yog mess). i am definitely going to remember that, because i have a jar of applesauce and no yog this week
I love how you mix everything together and come up with these good looking meals!
And I love your dog. I’m not sure if mine has ever really seen snow. He’s probably scared of it.

So that looks like I dessert i looove to have from time to time….except, MICROED!!! Heat that mess up and you’ll be oooohing and ahhing after every bite–if you’re into that, of course. HAHA!! I would heat the apple sauce + choc + ab first, then top it with the goods!!! Promise you’ll love!
I loved, I loved, I loved!!
