Saturday Joys

Oooooweee I’m glad we made it to Saturday!!

I’m celebrating with oats in a jar.

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • Handful of pumpkin flax granola (bulk bin buy)
  • Handful of trailmix
  • 1 spoonful plain yogurt

…and coffee

As far as I’m concerned, Saturday mornings were made for two things: long runs and drinking coffee. While I didn’t do the long run this morning, I did yesterday morning and I had to fight the icy streets the whole time. Not that much fun. Summer…please hurry.

I’m throwing a baby shower for a co-worker this afternoon, so that means I need to get my butt off the couch to:

  • Clean my house
  • Make some food
  • Buy/wrap a gift

Have the loveliest day!

  1. HEY love!! thank you so much for your sweet comment-i really really appreciated it and so thankful to have found your BLOG! and YAY For OIAJ!! you KNOW that makes me super happy!! haha :) have fun today!

  2. Happy Saturday!!!!!,
Coffee is definately made for the weekends (but shouldn’t be forgotten throughout the week as well)
Go you running in bad weather… I’d never be able to do that, I do want to start running though in the spring and summer. Have fun today!!!!

  3. Have a great time at the shower today- I’m excited to see photos (which means, remember to take some!).

I’m with you on the Saturday coffee and long runs thing- I checked that box just this morning.

  4. Katie! I had a baby shower for my friend on Saturday afternoon at my house too! It turned out wonderfully, hope yours did as well. Afterwards it started POURING rain here, and all the windows in our house were leaking… even though it was a mess, I still enjoyed the rain. I’m kind of DREADING the summer heat-wave coming but I suppose I do have other things to look forward to :-) Happy weekend to you!

  5. So i tried that smoothie yesterday sans applesauce because i didn’t have any, but it rivaled some of my best, that is for sure! The only thing i substituted was brown rice protein powder instead… I was quite impressed that such simple ingredients kept me full for so long (3 hours)… This is an achievement! ;) Nice OIAJ, all of my leftover jars are tall and narrow which sucks compared to Justin’s jars. It is like he anticipated the OIAJ in the production process?

  6. I couldn’t agree more. Saturdays were made for long runs and coffee…love them both! :D

I till need to try that particular brand of almond butter. I saw it at the store the other day and came so close to buying it before putting it back..haha. I’ll add it to my list for next week though. :D

  7. Haha – we are just the exact same person. You are 100% right that that’s what Saturday mornings are for – couldn’t have put it better myself :) I’m glad you had such a great start to your day! Enjoy your Sunday morning coffee as well!

  8. I just made oaties and they are really good. I had a hard time keeping them in cohesive balls though before and after they were cooked. I used agave bc that is all I had and then the rest of the ingredients….

Do you freeze yours or is that just those yummy looking brownie looking balls? I am going to try putting one in with my oats so I guess it doesn’t really matter if it crumbles but I am wondering if I did something wrong…

    • Yay for making oaties! I actually used agave in mine, too…and they were hard to keep together pre-cooking as well. I didn’t freeze my oaties, but I can imagine they would do well. I’ve never met a cookie that didn’t freeze well, actually.

Something I did that helped them stay together POST cooking…after they had cooled a bit (but were still warm and melty) I re-rolled them into balls and then let them cool completely. I think this helped…when the melty chocolate cooled, it helped them hold their shape. I don’t think you did anything wrong!
