Sunday Oats

Oats don’t fill me up very well. I’m almost always still hungry at the end of the bowl, and I end up wanting another meal about two hours later. Therefore, they’re not my go-to breakfast for weekdays. However – on a Sunday, they’re perfect. As was this bowl:

  • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 tbs. chia seeds
  • 1.5 cups water

Cooked on the stovetop for about 5 minutes. The toppings…

  • ½ cup plain yogurt with cinnamon mixed in
  • Coconut granola
  • Sprinkling of pepitas
  • 1 tbs. crunchy peanut butter

Although my belly is still a little grumbly after this bowl, I’m going to give it a few minutes before I dig into something else. Most likely, I’ll eat another breakfast after church, which I now must go get myself ready for! I’ll leave you with a picture of my adorably dramatic 5 year-old niece at dinner last night. She took my sunglasses out of my purse and struck a pose when I whipped out my camera.

Have a great Sunday.

I love oats, but they don’t fill me up very well when I eat them for breakfast either… but for some odd, unexplained reason, they DO fill me up if I eat them for dinner… maybe it’s b/c my stomach isn’t as empty as it is at breakfast time???

I think it is so funny how foods have different effects on people because oats sit in my tummy like a rock! Have a wonderful Sunday lady.

LOVE that pic haha so cute in the sunglasses!

Oats never, ever used to fill me either until I started using a 1/3 cup milk + 1/3 cup water… now it works like a charm and I’m usually good to for a long time. Still not as filling as pancakes, but you can’t win ‘em all. ;) Hope you had a great day deary!

  24. Sheila Hood says:

Haha! She has everyone fooled! Please note the marker all over her hand and leftover peanut butter around her mouth! hehe. :) NO DOUBT she is absolutely precious, and that she LOVEs to pose and dress up, however, she is also usually covered in some sort of media, be it chalk, paint, mud, pen, yogurt, or said peanut butter. No one else I know has quite this mix of the elements it takes to be amazingly well-rounded. I love my girl! – her momma
