Hello!! First of all, thank you all so much for your sweet comments regarding my crazy side. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who knows how to through a temper tantrum. Today was much more successful. It was full of teaching, laughing, and food. Smoothie, Cliff bar + yogurt, carrots + hummus, green tea, cashew butter + pretzels, bbq chicken salad. As The BFG would say, it was all scrumdiddlyumptious! I also had a much more encouraging run after school, and now I’m relaxing with a long overdue viewing of Monday’s Gossip Girl.
In the 3rd grade world…
We still have no confirmation of the penguin story, but when I asked about it today, I got this response…
(He has a very advanced vocabulary, and this is pretty close to verbatim…)
“Apparently, it’s illegal to have a pet penguin in United States. We had to send him back to Antarctica. We got him connected with a penguin family that didn’t have any babies because when adult penguins don’t have babies, they steal and eat other penguin’s children. This way, Mumbo (which I later learned was his former pet’s name) can prevent the death of an innocent baby penguin.”
Then he drew me a picture of Mumbo.

Awwww…lol! Illegal? How cute.
And is that kale in your smoothie? I can’t do it. Not that brave.
It’s frozen spinach in the smoothie! Can’t even taste it…
Okay – one of the best stories ever!!! Love the pics of the food – makes me hungry…I want to meet this child. I think I would just sit and observe him.
OOh that smoothie is BEAUTIFUL! Btway Soopers frozen spinach is 88c a bag! Do you know just adore that Rocket girly! I use it so much and really thought the thing would wear out so I bought a 2nd one just in case it did!! I am trying to guess who this Penguin boy is….funny, detailed story!! Hey Jen glad you are picking up my slack with latte’s!! ha! I was sad to see the freebies end today…boo hoo!
Ohmygod, this pengiun drama is even better than television! Keep us updated!
So cute. I can’t help but wonder how this little boy found out that Mumbo was such a fast swimmer? Did he know this as a fact or was there some type of bathtub incident lol. He sounds very articulate; the kid, not Mumbo…
Glad your run went well today, if you ever want a quick interval workout write-up, let me know! I know you don’t “need” it, but thought i would throw the offer out there since i write about 4 different types of interval programs a week. And i am SO happy you quoted R. Dahl in this post. He is my absolute favorite author of ALL time. Not only do i love every single one of his books, but the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is one of my top 3 movies as well! I have read James and the Giant Peach over ten times and only a few of those were in elementary school
Penguin Story = Impending April Fool’s?
This penguin saga is getting funnier and funnier!!
It would be hard for me to believe that kid! He could be just tricking you, but that’s a really elaborate trick for a 6th grader Haha! I love your snacky lunch, those are always fun
Could you ask the kid to bring in (or send) a picture? Surely a family would take pictures of a pet penguin. This is so funny, and yet driving me so crazy at the same time!
Oooh so you CAN do frozen spinach – that’s good to know! That smoothie looks AMAZING.
And I think Mumbo may be my new favorite thing ever. HAHA.
Also – I LOVED THE BFG!! And all Roald Dahl books really.
Ha, Mumbo!
I love those little individual cups of hummus. And dinner looks good…is it chicken?
Yes, bbq chicken that I cooked in the crockpot all day.
I gotta know if this is true!!
Yum! What is that dinner you have on the plate? It looks like mashed potatoes, chicken, etc….yum!
Dinner was steamed cauliflower, peas, lettuce and bbq chicken! Yummy.
ummm…cutest picture ever.
and i am loving the looks of that smoothie – what is all in there? hope you have a wonderful day my lady
mango, frozen spinach, berries, 1/2 banana…and water!
Lol…..this kid sounds amazing.
lol What a cute student you have! Still curious about the penguin though! I really want confirmation…definitely sounds like he’s telling the truth though. Unless it’s just a REALLY good April Fools….
Artisana Cashew Butter is my favorite. So smooth, rich and creamy
