(I could not think of a title today. I just sat there for 15 minutes, staring at the title space with a blank stare on my face.)
Wheee! Today was much more relaxed. I woke up determined to make it so, and it was. I liked it. I still woke up early, but went for a nice relaxing walk with the puppy instead of a run. Many of you asked what time I go to bed to wake up at 4:30. I try to head that way by 9:30, but I usually don’t get there until 10pm. 6.5 hours seems to be enough sleep for me.
After the walk this morning, I had some yummy yog.
Fage, almond flour pancake, carob chips, cinnamon
At lunchtime, I did another relaxing thing and came home to sit on my couch while I ate. I love being home in the daytime, even if it is only 15 minutes.
1 egg, 2 egg whites, spinach, peas, nutritional yeast

Fudgy flourless cookie, I found the recipe here – they are so insanely decadent
When I gave my kiddos over to the PE teacher for a while, a co-worker and I ran to starbucks for an afternoon treat.
Tall skinny latte
When I was working in the office after school, I had half of a ham sandwich that I had packed when I was home at lunchtime.
One piece of bread, mustard, a few ham slices, snap peas
I came home around 6:30 and grilled up some chicken and roasted a few of my favorite veggies. Easy-peasy-perfection.
Grilled chicken breast, roasted carrots + brussles sprouts
For dessert…fruit cereal! I get excited every time I eat this.
Apple, banana, coconut flakes, pepitas, carob chips, milk
In the 3rd grade world…
I had two kiddos throw up in my class today. Totally unrelated. One was at 7:45am, one was at 3:00pm. We don’t have windows that open in the classroom, so it smelled incredibly bad all day long. I almost threw up in response to the stench, but luckily I was able to escape to the hallway for a few moments and compose myself before telling throw-upper #2 that he shouldn’t eat 2 peaches for snack, chug a water bottle, and then be-bop around the room like a pogo stick. Silly kids.

That flourless cookie looks great!!
About a month ago, I was thrown up ON!! This little girl told me her tummy hurt so I wrote her a clinic pass and went to give it to her and she projectile vomited all over me. The principal just happened to be in the classroom observing one of my problem students and like a rockstar she jumped up and took care of everything for me. It was really really gross though!!!!!! And believe it or not, I still have poop accidents in first grade!!! And they don’t tell me when it happens, I find out by smelling it!!!!!!!!!!! Nasty.
Haha! I was thrown up on last year in the lunch room…eeeeww, kids are so gross sometimes!
Blech. I work with 1st graders and we have poop accidents too. I don’t understand why they don’t just say they have to go to the bathroom!! It blows my mind.
hehe, that sounded like I am the one having the poop accidents, I can assure you it is not me, but the students, haha!
Skinny lattes are my favorite!!
And, if a kid would have puked in my room, I would have been right there next to them! Good for you for being able to handle it!
Those cookies look like heaven- yum! Hope you’re day was a lot less hectic today compared to yesterday!
Sorry to hear about the vomit–funny you should mention it, though, as it’s 2:15 a.m. and why am I up? Because our 3 year old came into the bedroom reeking of puke about an hour ago. After an hour of clean up, changing sheets and pjs, time to wind down with a little blog reading.
My folks used to make what they called “no bakes”, or similar flourless cookies. Their cookies had oatmeal in them and generally were lumps rather than flat. They were good, though.
I think your Starbucks picture looks like it could be in Newsweek or Time mag. Awesome
Oh throw up… that would ruin a day for me. I love kids and really hope to work with them and have babies one day. I suppose vomit is just something to expect. You brave soul you!
Those cookies look amazing!!
Ugh…couldn’t deal with the throw up!
That cookie looks awesome! I think I found my baking project for the weekend!
One of my students threw up yesterday as well. Luckily, I noticed his green face and sent him down to the office since the nurse was at lunch. About two minutes after, the secretary called and told me he puked all over the office. So glad I got him out of the room! Better them than me!
oh my gosh – I can’t believe the petite vomitters! You deserved that delicious looking cookie
Which, I might point out, is almost as big as your leg! YUM!
OMG, I can’t handle hearing/watching others throw up. I’m so sorry about that. I would have lost it!
But eating at home and a Starbucks run will definitely make for a good day!
Oh yay! I’m glad you were able to make it a more relaxing day. I was actually thinking about you all day saying to myself “i hope Katie is having a less stressful day!” Though I guess two kids puking doesn’t help all that much. Haha. I would totally have thrown up in response, I can’t STAND the smell.
That yogurt looks amazing but NOTHING looks so good as the fudgy cookie! I’m dying to make those (I already have the recipe page open
)
That dinner looks so up my alley – I think I might have to copy you tonight!
Happy Thursday!! We’re almost done!
UGH! Sorry about the smelly day!
It’s great that you know 6.5 hours will work for you! You are one of the lucky ones I Think
and ugh, I couldn’t handle the throw up. Probably why I’m not cut out to be a 3rd grade teacher.
Ew. Gross. I can deal with almost anything but vomit… makes me sick myself. We had a kid projectile vomit ON a computer last year… It was disgusting. I commend you!!
Those cookies look amazing, in other news
That cookie and recipe sound heaven-sent
The cookie and the starbucks look fantastic right now–I think I need something sweet, stat!
The vomit story made me laugh out loud—oh the joys of working with young people! Nothing surprises me any more!
I love your 3rd grade world stories! They bring a major smile to my work day.
That cookie looks decadent and amazing!
Being home in the middle of the day is always a nice treat- it’s one of the things I love most about summer! Puke is one of the things that I absolutely could not handle about being a teacher- major props! Hope you’re having a good day
OMG that scares me so much! i have such a fear of vomit (which I talked about on my blog before) seriously…I think if I were the teacher I woudl have ran out and never returned…fire me if they want, I cannot STAND it!! it would have been worse if one threw up, then the other did right after hahaha…like a chain reaction!
on another note…that flourless chocolate cookie looks SO good!!
Oh thats awful!! Im pretty sure thats the worst smell in the world!!
Just had to say thanks for the cookie recipe- I made these this afternoon after practically drooling looking at your picture. They are soooo yummy- and no butter or flour!! Amazing!
Hahahaha – poor kids!
Lovely pics, Katie!
This new “several small meals” routine´s amazing
Have a great night, love!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
that flourless cookie is staring at me…YUM
Yummy eats.. I’m especially diggin’ the grilled chicken and veggies.
Sorry to hear about your pukey kid day. Ick!
I wish I could go home during the day – I live just far enough away that by the time I got home I’d just have to turn around and go back. Our alloted lunch is 27 minutes – poo.
Well for such a plain Jane title, your food looked pretty good today – especially that cookie!
So glad to hear you had a relaxin’ morning! I’ve already decided that once the semester is over for me, I’m going to sleep in one lazy morning, make breakfast in bed, and just go for a long walk. Relaxing mornings are sooo important once in a while!
Yummy fruit cereal…I haven’t had it in ages!
So yummy!
haha…i HATE when i post, and i can’t think of a title. it is the worst. i hate titles – i am SO bad at them!
fudgy flourless cookie? YES PLEASE!
happy weekend
I am so sorry about the vomit! I am absolutely awful with the smell and I just need to get out of the room when some one does start throwing up. Good thing I’m in college and people don’t know what their limit is…
I hope you have a great day
