Another smiley day in summerland. I love having time to do things around the house! During the school year, the bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, and yard work are severely neglected…but now I can take my time and enjoy taking care of my lovely home.
I started with some sludge.

Romaine lettuce, blueberries, ½ banana, water
This was not the best thing ever. Meh – it fueled me through a walk with Punky. When I got home, however, I was really hungry, so I made another breakfast.

This was 100x tastier. I mixed ¼ cup raw rolled oats with ½ mashed banana and then topped it with raw chocolate cake and some dried coconut. Holy heck…this was so dang good.
After this settled, I did the crossfit workout of the day. I almost always do the running workouts. Today’s was 4x800s and it was tough. I was sweating and heaving on my jog home. When I walked in the door, Meeker was home for a break (happy surprise!) and he suggested that we go get his hair cut and then drop by our favorite juice stop! (Cost Cutters and Inta Juice happen to be next door to each other).

I drank about half of my Islander: guava, passion fruit, mango and peach

I stashed this in the freezer, took a shower and then made a salad to satisfy my daily veggie cravings.

I dreamed this one up while laying in bed last night. (Anyone else do that?)

Jicama, edamama, corn cut off the cob, dressed with a mix of salsa + spicy mustard
I did more laundry and then cleaned the bathroom while watching Losing it with Jillian (I cried at least twice), and then got started on dinner.
For Meeker:

Pizza with mozzarella, shrimp, and black beans. I used this recipe for the crust.
I wasn’t feeling pizza, so I used leftover barley, and topped it with the same things: marinara, black beans, shrimp

Good in theory – but I’ve decided that I don’t really love seafood. I WANT to like it. I try, but something about shrimp and fish gives me the heebies. I really like sushi – but not cooked fish. Why is that??
I also had an easy salad. Salads never disappoint me.

Lettuce, cucumber, carrots – I tossed some hummus on top after the photo.
And now I am sitting around waiting for the sprinkler guy to show up and fix our system. Both years that we’ve lived in this house, we have neglected to have our sprinklers blown out before winter, and they freeze and burst the pipes. Live and learn. Maybe we’ll remember this year…3rd time’s the charm. I hope.
How you feel about seafood?
I’m kind of the same way, I really want to love seafood but something about it just throws me off. I love baked salmon and lobster/crab but everything else I eat while kind of pinching my nose (I look soo grown up!).
I could seriously eat anything that comes from the ocean. Love love love all seafood!! If you don’t like fishy, you should try sole. It’s a really light and flaky fish…one of my faves!
I love seafood! Especially lobster.
I’m borderline obsessed with seafood. I could easily give up all meat, but not seafood. I like it raw or cooked. Doesn’t matter…I’ll eat it all. Like Jessica, I really like lobster too, although maybe that’s b/c I went to school up in Maine and it’s practically against the law to dislike lobster!
I’m all over the map with seafood. I love, love, love all fish and shrimp. But when it comes to clams, lobster, and things like that? Ugh…I get the heebie jeebies too.
I like shrimp if they are well-cooked and some fish. That’s about it for sea life though.
Don’t feel too bad: I cried during Jillian’s premiere big time… big sobbing mess when they were talking about their son.
I like some seafood – shrimp, lobster, crab…but that is about all:)
I also cried watching that show!
Seafood is one of my favorite food groups, but it’s definitely something you either love or hate. I can’t do meat, but love me a good piece of fish or crustaceans! Hope you have a great day!
I love seafood! I have ever since I was little, which I think is kind of unusual.
Oh my goodness, I love seafood! Shellfish, calamari, even octopus. I wish I lived by the ocean so I could get fresh seafood that doesn’t cost a fortune!
I love seafood…all of it. I haven’t ever met a fish I didn’t like!
I LOVE seafood! Sushi or cooked – SHRIMP, lobster, fishies, scallops, I love it all!
Most of the time I really love fish, but if it’s toooooo fishy smelling, it kinda grosses me out…
I watched Losing it with Jillian too and cried twice too!
Have a wonderful summer day!!
I love seafood, but only when someone else prepares it. I always seem to overcook it. Or it just smells too fishy. Or it looks slimy. Seafood is tricky. I love sushi too.
i LOVE seafood but not all of it and never deep fried….I hate mussles, clams and oysters–the texture does not mesh well with me! but most all whole fishes (salmon, sea bass, cod, haddock) and also love scallops and shrimpies! just not a huge fan of previously frozen…i like it real fresh!
and YES I dream of my next meal and what it will entail!
I love just about every type of seafood except lobster. I got food poisoning in 2008 from it and can’t get up the nerve to try it anymore.
Shrimp on a pizza sounds terrific! Esp with lots of garlic.
I’ve learned to like fish, but most crustaceans seriously gross me out. Especially shrimp.
Shrimp totally disgusts me now even though I used to love it. In fact, any seafood that’s not raw is just a little bleh. And I cn’t even stand the thought of canned fish. It’s weird how tastes change like that!
I am the same way as you- I love sushi but not much else. I want to like it, and try to like it! I can do a few pieces of shrimp but then I start to get weirded out by the texture. I like some lighter fish and don’t mind salmon once in awhile. Maybe it is the lack of fresh fish in the middle of CO
Haha, I actually NEVER considered that it might be because we live in a very landlocked state. Maybe I should try some on the coast!
I’ve been meaning to watch that show. I’m sure I would be crying my eyes out. I used to cry sooo much when Extreme Makeover Homes came on way back when.
I LOVE seafood. Fish is sooo flaky and light. I love it all!! And sushi is definitely the best – straight up sashimi for me.
I definitely dream about my meals too. I’m not the biggest fan of seafood but I do like tuna and crab cakes. I can’t stand any other fish though I’ve tried to like it! I just take a fish oil pill instead.
For 24 years of my life, I HATED seafood. and I still dont love it, but I am starting be more open to fish and trying new things. I like tilapia, shrimp, and orange roughy now. Baby steps right?
Hey,
I don’t do seafood at all. I just think it’s gross and for me everything tastes the same (from the stuff I tried anyways).
Like Michelle I have also now started takign fish oil supplements but so far don’t really notice a difference (after 2 1/2 weeks).
I am sooo jealous of you and all your free time. I’m doing the last semester of nursing school now and we haven’t been off since January and will not be off again until september and even then only for 1 1/2 weeks. And to make matters worse most of my free time goes to studying for the exam (my written will be in about 5 weeks)…
-I overheard ya’ll talking about seafood, if you live in the VA, MD, NJ, DE, or eastern PA and would like order some Chesapeake Bay Oysters, write to me or visit http://www.deltavilleoystercompany.com! We are a family owned and operated oyster farm, and this is our first year in business. We grown our oysters is the Rappahannock river, very far down the bay, almost at the ocean (away from the inland pollution!) We are much more reasonable than the competition and should have online sales in another week or so.
As for seafood in general, compared with terrestrial sources of protein Oysters are better for you and the environment!
I like seafood for the most part, but I don’t like shrimp at all. Any fish that has that “fishy” smell to it I can go without!
At least you tried!
i don’t love seafood either. i know its so good for you, but i don’t love it. what i do love is the FABULOUS eats of yours lately – the salads, smoothies, chocolate, everything! LOVE-IN-IT. happy summer vacay – oh how i envy you…
Hahahaha – there was a time I decided not to eat cooked fish, just because it creeped me out! I loved sushi, but could not stand grilled salmon. Everyone would call me spoiled. Oh, well…
I eat cooked seafood now. But only because I started liking it again – not because of people´s comments. Eat what you want, Katie! If you don´t feel like eating cooked fish… Then don´t
Wish you a lovely Thursday, love!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
Oh, how insane is the sprinkler thing! I moved out to Wyoming from Virginia, and not that I had ever had a house or sprinklers before, but I never would have thought to have them blown out! Luckily, some neighbors knew I “wasn’t from around here” and warned me. I do keep forgetting to undo the hose from the hook up out back, though, so I hope I didn’t screw up that pipe this year. I’m about to open those pipes back up, so I’m crossing my fingers. Wow, way too long of a reply… my bad
.
I’m very picky about seafood…I’ll eat shrimp, crab, lobster, and scallops, but I don’t enjoy fish. It’s odd!
Your lunch salad looks yummy! I’ve never thought about mixing salsa and spicy mustard…YUM!
I’m CRAZY about seafood!! As long as it doesn’t taste too “fishy,” which is NOT cool.
My whole life, I have felt like a complete traitor: I grew up in New England, on the shoreline, and worked at a seafood restaurant for 2 summers…never liking fish.
But I just recently went vegetarian, and so I’m trying to integrate it into my life. I’ve discovered that I like shrimp, which is a start. Sushi is good. I really, REALLY want to like salmon since it’s so full of good stuff. One day!
I actually used to HATE seafood because of the smell… now I think I’ve acquired the taste a little bit but it’s not my favorite thing. I like cooked fish… crab is okay sometimes… shrimps are generally flavorless.
i can’t get away with just reading ONE post without saying something, can i? i TOTALLY plan meals out in my head while laying in bed. ha!
