Build the perfect taco salad!
Start with a bed of lettuce, and then pile on the toppings…

My personal favorites include homegrown tomatoes

green onions, CILANTRO (my fave), red peppers…

Homemade guacamole is a must

and the best salsa in the world doesn’t hurt.

Add some sort of protein, and then pile it high…

I like ground turkey, but if you don’t do the meat thing…beans are yummy, too. Add some broken tortilla chips (for crisp!) and a spoonful of roasted red pepper hummus (mmm…creamy). The key is layers. Crispy, crunchy, smooth and fresh.
What is your favorite taco salad topping?
Yum, yum, yum, I love taco salad!!
My favorite topping is salsa. The spicier the better!!!!!
I love adding some grilled avoc. with lime juice.
Grilled avocado?! Genius!!
Guac is my favorite topping and an absolute MUST. NUM!
It’s not a taco salad without guac and salsa. You can compensate for pretty much any of the other ingredients, but those are definitely the best parts!
I’m the only one who likes cilantro or guac. in my family, but I do ever-so like them. The one topping I hate to do without: tomato.
I love black bean salsa on my taco salad… And a sprinkling of cheddar cheese. Hmmm, super yummy!
salsa and guac for sure. some nooch/hummus sauce that tastes just like cheese is REALLY good too. i also add in a sprinkle of chili mix (like the mccormick chili seasoning). it’s a winner!!
mmm taco salad – I love it! I make mine with grilled onions, peppers, and mushrooms (all coated with an extra spicy seasoning blend) and put those atop of lettuce, tomato, salsa, avacado – okay, the list could just keep going!
I may make that tomorrow! Yum!

I love chips and guac- perhaps some cheese if I’m feeling wild- Taco salads are my ‘goto’ summer meal, so freaking good!
Yum!! I must have sour cream and salsa. And some black beans!!
guacamole, salsa, black beans and corn!! and cheese, duh!!
I love black beans in taco salad. It’s been waaaay too long since I’ve had a taco salad though. I see one in my future.
I love adding beans and rice!!! Ahhh sooo yummy
YUM! I think the salsa makes the salad!
I love tomatoes. Weird…but whenever I get any kind of Mexican food…tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, taco salad, etc…I need TONS and TONS of diced tomatoes. It completely grosses Keith out because he HATES tomatoes! hehe!
KATTTTTTIIEE!! It’s been forever. This week has been SO incredibly nuts for me – but I couldn’t resist dropping in and letting you know I read you every morning on my google reader
Your nieces and nephew are SO adorable and you just seem like the absolute best aunt. I got all warm and cozy thinking of you guys coloring together and making pizzas!
Also, that taco salad looks amazing and it really makes me want to go home and make one tonight except I have no lettuce!! It’s a travesty, I know.
Anyway, I’m glad you’re enjoying summer!!
Have another wonderful day today for me k??
Crushed corn chips and diced red onion for sure! And growing up, our mom tossed the lettuce with sour cream. It usually needed to be hand mixed, so my little brother and I were always up for the job
. So, so good!
Guac, maters and sour cream usually have to be present on my taco salad. Black beans are good too.
I love the idea to add hummus!
Homegrown tomatoes are so much better than the ones at the store. At some point I started adding cucumbers to taco salads and now I’m hooked.
Definitely the guacamole! I just had myself a big taco salad on Sunday.
