2 Breakfasts, Lunch, a Wedding and a Funeral

Happy weekend! It’ cloudy and cool here, but I’m not really minding it. Yesterday was FULL to the brim, so it’s a nice excuse to lay low today.

I started early with a small breakfast…

Watermelon, trail mix, coffee

Almonds, walnuts, coconut, dried cranberries

Then I took Punky for a nice long walk, then went to another breakfast with a friend around 9 o’clock.

This is my friend Tracy who had brain surgery last year – now she’s living life and thriving out in Connecticut – so I hardly every get to see her! We’ve known each other since elementary school, so it was so nice to just sit and chat. She’s lovely.

I had another little breakfast of fruit and potatoes (which I dipped in ketchup and ate with my fingers like French fries).

After that it was off to yoga, then home to mow the lawn, eat lunch

Taco salad – broccoli slaw, salsa, hummus, chips, sunflower seeds, nutritional yeast

…and then I had to rush to get ready for my friend Emily’s wedding!! It was a gorgeous ceremony –everything went beautifully. I got to see people I hadn’t seen in a while, and overall it was a fantastic night.

My friend Dawn who is in the Air Force – she’s such a stud.

I might as well call these girls my sisters since we’ve been friends since FIRST GRADE – lifelong love.

Dinner was delicious. I ordered the veggie option.

Spinach stuffed portobello mushroom, potatoes (so good!!) and asparagus

I also had cake…duh.

Actually I just licked the frosting off of two cupcakes. Yum. We danced, and danced, then made the two hour drive home.

At around midnight, we walked in the door and found our cat Bellatrix dead on the kitchen floor. Morbid, I know – but there’s no other way to say it. Describing the experience as traumatic doesn’t really cover it. We have no idea what happened to her…

I captured many of Bella’s daily moments on the blog – but I thought it would be nice to give my sweet kitty a little blog eulogy. A montage of Bellatrix moments.

She’s the one with light brown spots, and the smaller of the two cats…

Meeker and I (and the other animals!!) will miss our little snuggler so much!

  1. Oh my gosh! I’m soooooo sorry for your loss! :( Bellatrix seemed like a sweet little kitty from your pictures of her. So pretty!
I’m glad you had a nice time at the wedding up until late last night. I’m wishing you all the best!

  2. Your cats are hilarious- most cats are, but the pictures are awesome!

Two cats together is far better then one.. I won’t go there until I get married though- let’s be honest, I don’t want to be trapped.. hahah!

  3. Oh no…I am so sorry to hear this! I can’t imagine what I’d do if I can home to one of my dogs dead…..hopefully you can figure out what happened? So sorry….

But hears to friends! I also have a group of girls that we’ve been friends since Pre-K…we go way back!

  4. I am so sorry :( I know how traumatic it is, I had that experience twice with my cats, awful.
I hope your other animals will ease your pain a bit.

  5. Hey,
just wanted to say that I’m soo sorry about your cat. I cannot imagine how you must have felt coming back from such a lovely evening and then finding her.
Is there any way you can find out what happened?

  6. Oh no! What an awful experience. I hope you find out what happened. We have two little kitties and coming home to something like that is one of my biggest worries. I hope your other cat is ok, poor thing.

  7. I just found your blog yesterday and I was telling my sister how much I loved the name Bellatrix for a cat! I’m assuming it’s from Harry Potter, right? I’m so sorry about her death :( At least she’s in kitty heaven.

I love your blog, though – definitely subscribing!

  9. As a fellow cat lover, this post makes me so sad! That is horrible! When I used to have pets, their deaths were always very unpredictable and surprising as well. I guess its an animal thing.

Looks like you’re enjoying your break from your third graders! Hope you’re having a great summer Katie! You look beautiful at the wedding! Love the dress.

  10. I wish I could think of something comforting to say about the loss of your kitty, but it just leaves you for a lack of words. Aside from being just a super sucky, gut wrenching experience that I wish could make more sense for you.
With deepest condolences on the loss of your buddy :(
