Tattle Turtle

I hope you all had good ones. I started mine off with level 2 of the thirty day shred. I hadn’t done this in months, and I was surprised by how much strength I maintained.
Speaking of strength…remember my push-up challenge? When I started, I couldn’t do a single push up, and I vowed to work up to 25 consecutive push-ups before August hit. Well, I DID it!! It was hard, I really don’t like push-ups, but I DID it! I actually did it on August 1st, and it’s taken me 16 days to tell you all about it. Where is my head? Anyone else still following me on the challenge? How’s it going?
After the shred and a shower, I threw this together and ate in en route to work.

Love that morning sunlight.

Udi’s Gluten Free bagel toasted with crunchy peanut butter, ½ a smashed banana and cinnamon. Quite possibly the best thing I’ve eaten in months. I can’t even remember the last time I had a bagel, but hot dang, this was g-o-o-d. Unfortunately, bread (even gluten free) kind of gives me an upset stomach, so I dealt with that all day, but honestly, it may have been worth it.
Lunch

Bowl of veggies with soy vay and 2 leftover spring rolls. Speaking of spring rolls, you all had a lot of questions about them! They’re super easy…refer to this post for more detailed account of how I make mine.
I followed that up by some almonds and dates. A perfect lunch-time dessert.

I had a peach sometime during the afternoon, and then came home for an easy (read: 15 minute) dinner.

Baked omelet with zucchini, red peppers, spinach and avocado.

I love breakfast for dinner. Don’t you?
In the 3rd grade world…

I have this Tattle Turtle hanging on my white board so that I’m not bombarded by a million silly tattles every day. I thought I should introduce you to Mr.
Tattle Turtle because it will undoubtedly be the source of many laughs this year. For example, today someone told the Tattle Turtle:
Bobby and Johnny said “What the heck” at recess.
I have a class full of stinkers, and I’m sure a thousand “tattle worthy” shenanigans happened at recess, but THIS is what I needed to know about. The word heck.
Thank you Tattle Turtle for allowing me to escape the retelling of (what I am sure) was a very long and detailed story.

Haha, the tattle turtle is cute! I used to have a tattle box for my kids to use, but they became obsessed and were up constantly at it… if I do it again I need to come up with some rules and guidlines as to how many tattles they’re allowed a day and that they cannot get up during a lesson.
I was actually really worried about that! So I told them only ONE person at a time, and it could ONLY be when I wasn’t teaching. So far so good…
oops, guidelines!
That omelet looks absolutely fabulous!
Oh my goodness…your breakfast looks divine! I love mashed bananas on bread, but I always (always, always) forget about it every morning.
Lovin’ those spring rolls! What a fun lunch.
Ah the innocence of little kids… I love it! And love getting your third grade recaps again!!!
Confession: I only do push ups because I love laying on the floor after I am done
I feel like I need a Tattle Turtle in my life
Love the idea of the tattle turtle, I’m sure you get a few laughs from it:)
How are you liking the 30 day shred? I’ve been hearing a lot about it but have never tried it.
oh my goodness – i love the tattle turtle. Any idea on how to modify that to be more “fifth grade” appropriate? I get sooo sick of listening to tattle tales all day!!!
Congrats on the pushups! 25 is no small feat!
My mom’s a third grade teacher and once had to intervene when one of her students used the “the S word” – after listen to the 5 minute tattle, she learned that the S word is “stupid.”
The tattle turtle is a great idea and I bet some of the tattles are pretty funny.
Ah 25! So happy for ya… go for 40, you can do it
This tattle-turtle is such a hilarious idea, you are going to have a TON of material for the blog in a few days. Guaranteed!
I hate push ups, but I should really start doing them. My arms are embarrassingly weak.
Turtle is such a great idea
I love your school stories
Whoa, you’re on level 2 of the thirty day shred?? I’ve heard that level 1 is nearly impossible. Ha, ha. I’m going to buy it for the colder, winter months. I’ve heard it’s really intense!
CONGRATS ON THE PUSHUPS!! they are so hard. i mean, i consider myself strong in my upper body, but then i do a pushup and i feel like i have weak little noodle arms!
Good job!
Tattle Turtle……that’s awesome. when in was in kindergarten some older kid called me a booger. i was too scared to say that word and just cried and cried and couldn’t tell anyone.
i could have used that tattle turtle…….
That tattle turtle is such a cute idea. I can’t imagine how many times a day you hear tattles…I’m sure having this is such a welcome break!
That little board is so cute! I can’t wait to hear more of the tattles, haha.
Love bagels! Yours looks fab.
haha…too cute! and that is quite a travesty that bread gives you a stomach ache. funny enough, for me, its the one thing i know that can calm my stomach. too much protein makes me feel sick. happy tuesday!!!
good job on 25 pushups!!! seriously i know how hard it is but u definitely proved to urself that u can do it. ive worked up to 50 which is crazy
ur baked omelet is the best! that baby is big and super loaded <3
that TATTLE TURTLE is fantastic!! the kiddies must get a kick out of that!
I have been having a mad craving for spring rolls w/ peanut dipping sauce soon and now you are making me want them even more.
I think I need to find some to fulfill my craving soon!
What an adorable idea! I can only imagine how much the kids love it. I used to eat ridiculous amounts of bread as a kid but I can’t hang anymore. I do love a good toasty bagel though!
I seriously want your omlette. Okay? Okay. Now that that’s out of the way…I love the tattle box idea! I go crazy when mine run up to me, interrupt a conversation because of an URGENT EARTHSTOPPING story…about so-and-so looking at me funny. Ah the joys of kidlets!
the tattle turtle is a great idea. i can’t wait to hear what he says. oh man.
