In the 3rd grade world…
One of my students called me “Ms. Trunchbull” today.

If you’ve ever read (or seen) Matilda, you know that is not a compliment. Maybe I should get more sleep tonight.

I loved Matilda… lol I can’t even picture a little kid calling you that.
I use to watch that freakin movie ALL the time when I was little. I think I could recite it word for word! Mrs. Trunchbull is one scary lady! I hope that kid was exaggerating, or else we can’t be friends! Ha!
<3 Tori
OMG can I just say, no confess, that I just pulled Matilda off of my roommates shelf to watch! How bizzarre is that?!
hahaah omg matilda!! yes yes loved it and you are SO not mrs trunchbull!!!
I guess I’m behind….I’ve never seen Matilda! But yes….it sounds like sleep is in order!
Oh my goodness, I’m sure that was extreme 2nd grade hyperbole; you seem like the nicest teacher ever! Also, I hope you gave her E.C. points for the literary allusion!
Haha, I was actually more impressed than anything! I was so proud of the the allusion (I’m reading the book aloud to the students right now).
bahahaha Mrs. Trunchbull!
what?>!! Mrs. Trunchbull? You are no way mrs trunchbull!
I read that book about 5 times!
Oh No!
I’m sure that student was just having a bad day, it’s not you!
I sometimes have to remind myself that I don’t have to be “best friends” with all
my students…they don’t have to like me all the time.
Matilda is a great story (and the best book to movie adaptation I’ve ever seen), but no, I would think that you wouldn’t want to be known as Ms. Trunchbull.
LOVE roasted potatoes on my salads – I’ve been rocking that one since July and it just never gets old!
You know how i feel about Dahl! Matilda = Top 5 books EVER! But i doubt you are comparable to the Trunch, even when tired… Though you definitely should have grabbed a hold of her pony-tails and through her out the window or forced her to eat a big German chocolate cake in front of the whole class. You know you thought about it.
hahaah… I remember the Matilda movie, I highly doubt you were THAT grumpy to be called that.
I was wondering what you use as salad dressing. Do you usually make your own? I never eat salads cause I can not find a dressing that I like (like from the grocery store shelves) if you have any great home made recipes, please share!
thanks.
What a great salad, I love that you added roasted potatoes into it. I think I must try that too
Haha…only kids can get away with saying things like that.
Hope you get some extra sleep tonight! I’m feeling a little on the sleep-deprived side of things, myself.
Oh snap! I don’t know how I would have handled that….I’m sure you handled it with grace and composure though.
Yeah….kids tend to lack that whole verbal filter thing most of the time, don’t they?
Hope today is better
Well at least your students are well read? If not a little haughty? They don’t know how lucky they are to have a cool teacher like you!
I have some taters at home waiting to be roasted and I kind of want that exact salad. Yum!
The book Matilda = LOVE
I am sure the only thing you have in common with Miss Trunchbull is your love of CAKE. Otherwise, I think you seem more like Miss Honey. I actually told my literature professor (college) that I thought she was a bit like Miss Honey (she knew exactly who I was talking about). =)
Please keep involving your students in such wonderful books!
Hhaha, I love that! I’m going to maintain that it’s my love of chocolate cake that drew the comparison between us.
Thanks for your comment!
I <3 matilda!!! I'm sure you weren't as bad as Ms. Trunchbull
Thanks for your comment! I’m going to hope that it was slightly exaggerated!
oh my gosh! trunchbull! i know i haven’t commented in awhile, but i loved matilda books! glad to hear your school year is starting off great (minus trunchbull). i wish you a great year – take care!
Good to hear from you Kellsey – thanks for the sweet comment!
At least you started the morning with pb + choc!
Haha, I’ve never seen Matilda but she looks scary
All of your food looks so good (well except for the pesto but I can imagine how good it was). Wrinkly peaches are the best – so juicy!
I LOVED Matilda!! The Trunchbull was so scary, I couldnt imagine you being anything close to that.
Haha, I’m hoping it was an exaggeration[?]!
that is my favorite flavor of kind bar. and i love the stats for it! i have never seen matilda! for shame.
At least your food looked awesome for the day! Hopefully the kiddies were nicer today!!

I love sweet potatoes but never thought to have them for breakfast…. so needless to say I am I’m very intrigued by your breakfast, how much almond milk did you add to get it that consistency?
I hate when I have those days with my 4th graders! Yesterday was one and I heard one girl say, “Wow, Mrs. W is mean today!!” Makes ya think!! Tomorrow is a new day!
Aw, thanks for your sweet comment. Today was a new (and better) day indeed!
LOL! That is hilarious! I can’t imagine you ever being a grumpy teacher though!
