Hooked

I’m hooked on bananas. I used to despise them, but something changed, and now they’re my favorite quick breakfast.

Banana split. On the left, Dark Chocolate Dreams PB. On the right: creamy peanut butter with chunks of raw carrot cake.

Sandwiched and eaten on my walk to school.

For lunch, I had more favorites. I’m 100% hooked on roasted potatoes AND my garlicky pesto rice.

A cup of each. Plus an old time favorite that I’ve been hooked on since I was a kiddo.

I drizzled the pb and ate the mess with a fork.

(On my walk home from school, I saw the high school cross country team running through the park. It made me want to run alongside them! I’m totally hooked on running, and I miss high school cross country.)

For dinner, an old time favorite that I’ll never tire of: hooked on roasted veggies.

Carrots, yellow squash, zucchini, red onion, broccoli, eggplant, tomatoes, chickpeas, hummus, nutritional yeast, balsamic vinegar

All mixed up and ready to eat! Deeelish.

In the 3rd grade world…

I love organization and everything that goes along with it. Sticky notes included.

I have my kiddos hooked on phonics sticky notes. We take our ‘reading notes’ on them and then stick them to the board as we review. After we stuck them up there, 2 little boys asked: Can we organize them by color??

Uh, yes please. My heart melted, and I gave them both high fives.

Also, thanks for all your encouraging Trunchbull comments. I got a phenomenal night’s sleep last night and felt much more like Ms. Honey today. Smiles all around.

Bananas and peanut butter are so yummy together, great breakfast!

  4. You can walk to school? That makes me so incredibly jealous. I’ll trade you 45 minutes of construction any day of the week (but in reality it only takes 25 minutes without the mess of the highway).

I would have been pumped if my kids asked if they could organize anything. Whenever kids ask me if they can organize their desks when they finish an assignment, I get a little teary eyed.

  5. Looks like a great day.
    I love your banana submarine!

oooo those bananas looks delicious! I totally loved your idea of putting PB, oats, and flax inbetween. I’ve been eating it for breakfast the last few mornings and it is awesome! Just found your blog recently and have totally enjoyed looking through your recipes, they all look so good (and don’t have crazy random ingreds which I like). :)

Aw, thanks for your sweet comment! I’m not one to buy crazy ingredients either (the husband is a meat and potatoes guy – so they go to waste if I only have one recipe I need to use them in). I’m glad you appreciate it!

      Have a great weekend!

  13. Nicole says:

First of all, those bananas look too amazing to be breakfast. I am so going to try that this weekend. Secondly, I want to be a teacher, just so I have an excuse to use colorful sticky notes!! :)

OMG! I am on my high school cross country team – for a second I was like “Maybe she saw me!” but them I realized I live far, far, away from you. LOL! :-) I used to hate bananas too, but now I like them. Maybe I’ll have to try your banana sandwich?

  15. I’m not a fan of bananas either, maybe I should finally try them with peanut butter?! :D
