I promise I’ll share the first half of my weekend, but first, I wanted to show you all my Sunday. Meeker suggested we drive up to Vail, CO to see the changing fall leaves.

The colors were breathtakingly vibrant – especially against the blue sky.

Hanging on snow fences…hard to believe that these slopes are covered in snow for most of the year.

Plus, Vail is just a really cool little village.

These trees were cut in half and made into benches…

Riding a bear.

Obviously there was some food…

From the Big Bear Bistro – The Tree Hugger Sandwich: hummus, arugula, sprouts, roasted red peppers, and caramelized onions with maple cider vinaigrette

I ate half for lunch, and just finished off the 2nd half for dinner about 30 minutes ago. It was a delicious monster.

And a deliciously colorful day!
Do the leaves change color where you live?

The sandwich got me with the maple vinaigrette… yum!
Beautiful! Leaves are starting to change here even though it’s been in the 90′s still… tomorrow the high is only 70 and i’m EXCITED!
we did the same thing today…except to silverton! its one of my favorite things to do
Vail is beautiful! I was there for my uncle’s wedding 13 years ago and have wanted to go back ever since
Those are some stunning shots! Your sandwich looks amazing! Most of the places down here have incredibly lame veg. options for sandwiches – totally bums me out! Our leaves don’t really change in Florida, but that’s okay…a bit of a breeze + the sun is a perfect fall for me!
gorgeous!!!!!
So pretty! And that sandwich looks AMAZING
Must recreate!
Thanks for sharing, that is so beautiful! I’ve lived in LA all my life so it’s pretty much summer year round.
Those autumn scenes are so pretty!
Aw…I *love*, love, love autumn. The trees have just begun changing color here, and I can’t wait for them to reach their peek. So beautiful.
And that monstrous hummus burger looks ah-mazing, by the way.
Living in the city of Chicago it’s kind of hard to realize how quickly fall approaches… but this year I am being reminded daily with the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte… does that count?
Your photos are fantastic! I’ve always wanted to go to Vail to snowboard, but it also looks like an amazing place to visit in the autumn as well.
Oh my word, it’s the best snowboarding in the WORLD!!! (Granted, I haven’t been all over the world, but it’s dang good!) My favorite by far. I hope you get to go someday!
I love the leaves in Colorado, but I must admit that New England is in a class by itself. There are so many beautiful tones of red, orange, and yellow, and somehow that time of year seems to glorify the colonial history of the region. Maybe because it leads up to Thanksgiving? It’s just such a vibrant time of year, and completely different from the West; definitely what I miss most about where I grew up.
I’ve heard that about the east coast – I would love to be there for it someday!
Beautiful! The leaves do change color here, but there aren’t that many trees so it doesn’t have quite the same effect.
Beautiful Pictures! Yes, they do change where I am from (Maine). We don’t get as awesome foliage here in Boston where I live now, but seeing this post made me excited to go home in two weeks! I love the sound of that sandwich too. I probably would have eaten it all in one go!
Stunning scenery. We also have that time of the year when the leaves change their colour.. it’s such a pretty time if you don’t mind that it’s dark at 8pm already!
8 pm!! It starts getting dark here at 6pm! I guess that’s the mountain’s fault…at least they’re nice to look at.
i LOVE fall for the seasons this time of year! thats why I do lov eliving in new england…the leaves and beautiful colors!
thank you for sharing those
I love when the leaves change color! I was in Colorado last October, and I dont know what it is, but the colors are different. Everything was SO beautiful!
Katie!
I have to tell you that one of my students has been singing “The Gumnmy Bear” song non-stop. When he first started singing it on Friday I thought, “I KNOW that song…why in the world do I know this gummy bear song????” Then today he started singing it again and it hit me….I read it here last school year!!! Haha!!!! Too funny!!!!!
Haha, that’s awesome!! I forgot about that song…I need to play it again for my students this year. Thanks for the reminder!
GORGEOUS pictures!!
I need to visit Colorado!! I have a friend in Denver and she absolutely LOVES it!!
Oh I miss this!! We were there in July and I wondered how the fall colors would pop. Thanks for the pics and the walk down memory lane.
oh, it is so gorgeous! thanks for sharing!
BEAUtiful photos. Thank you for sharing those! I absolutely adore Colorado, especially in the fall.
wow, gorgeous! I’m missing the mountains now.
Yes, the leaves change in NC. It’s my favorite thing about living here. The falls are INCREDIBLE!
