Ahhhh…(that was the happiest sigh ever). You guys are amazing! Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for all of your congrats and well wishes. It feels unbelievably good to be able to tell you all…finally! I wanted to shout it from the rooftops when I found out about the little Baby Cake 8 weeks ago, but I waited, and now it is so sweet. So, so sweet. You all are amazing.
So, now that the word is out…I don’t have to make excuses for my meals – they’ve been scattered. I have been eating whatever I feel like because for the last 2 months, I have hated food. All food. It was so sad. But now that my appetite is starting to return (yippee!), I’m feeding it what it tells me to.
A lots of smoothies.

This actually wasn’t very good – live and learn.
Many veggie sandwiches.

And thank goodness, apples didn’t lose their appeal for long.

Sadly, avocados were the worst offender for 2 months. But they’ve started to sound good again.

Especially when smashed inside an onion bagel.

Or on a sweet potato.
In the 3rd grade world…
I told my kiddos about the pregnancy yesterday- via a game of hangman. (The sentence was “I am going to have a baby”) They were actually very calm about it. Most of them just shrugged and continued packing their backpacks to go home for the day. But when my students from a few years ago (now 5th graders) found out – they were jumping up and down, tackling me in the hallway, and giving me lists of potential baby names.
So today during carpool, when one of the 5th graders celebrated her birthday, she (and a few friends) came into my classroom stating that they had “brought the baby a cookie”…

A homemade snickerdoodle to go with my hot water – no complaints from me or Baby Cake.
(And if you look closely in the background, you can see the shoes of one of my students who was sitting in my comfy chair upside down, with his feet straight up in the air)

I was actually going to ask you how long you’ve known about it!
You have some will power not sharing for 8 whole weeks! It would kill me not to announce it! It must have been so upsetting not enjoying eating any of the foods you loved! I’m glad your appetite is coming back!
Wow! Congratulations mommy!
Umm, kid was really comfortable, eh?
Congratulations!!! That is so exciting!!
Aww!! Congratulations! I’m so happy for you!
I think it’s so strange to hear about pregnancy and the effects it has on the taste buds! Like the cravings and things making people nauseous that usually don’t. My mom told me everytime she ate pizza when she was pregnant with me, it’d give her heartburn. I know you aren’t looking forward to these things, so I’ll shut up now
I’m so happy for you! That is so exciting!! HA and thats cute what the kid did for you. You remind me of my 1st grade teacher Mrs. Henry. She had you body shape and type personality ( or so it seems) and she told us she was pregnant half way through the year. I thought it was the most awesome thing ever! lol
Congrats! How exciting! I just finished prenatal yoga teacher training so hit me up if you need yoga advice!
I can’t wait to hear what you and Meeker come up with for names… being the creative people you are! Your veggie sandwich deserves to be sold at a cafe. It would sell (guaranteed). I would buy two everyday! Do you still use millet bread? I am going to recreate it tomorrow. Where the heck do you find onion bagels? Maybe i will find some on my jaunt to Michigan tomorrow and make a veggie bagel sandwich. Now i’m hungry. Darn.
I really need to catch up, as I can’t believe I missed the post where you stated that you’re going to be a new mom. Ahh…CONGRATS! That is such exciting news.
Congrats AGAIN!! Seriously, your announcement yesterday put a smile on my face all morning. Finding out people are pregnant makes me so happyyyy- can you tell I’m the biggest sap ever? It sounds like you already have a good nickname, too- Baby Cakes
Oh my goodness, I am WAY behind!
A huge congrats to you and your husband…what a blessing!
Congratulations!!! I just heard from someone else’s blog and HAD to come say hello. I’m currently 7 months in my 2nd pregnancy. It’s a lot of changes and an interesting journey, but a beautiful one. I can’t wait to follow along on yours now.
This has nothing to do with your post, but I LOVE THE NAME OF YOUR BLOG. Whenever I see it somewhere, I always click over because of the name. LOL.
It also makes me want some cake…
