Being my favorite holiday, I started this day out nice and early. Like 3 hours before anyone else in my 20 person family woke-up. I have completely lost my ability to sleep past 6am. But I didn’t mind this morning, the longer this day lasts, the better.
When the sun came up, I went for a walk.

It was cold, but it felt great to be up and moving.
When I got back, the house was stirring and my brother was making breakfast.

huevos motuleños – corn tortilla, egg, salsa, sausage, cilantro
I spent the morning chatting and giving my oldest brother a haircut, and then I needed a nap. I laid down for a while, but was too cold to sleep, so I returned downstairs with a blanket. My fourteen year old cousin saw me shivering, and was sweet enough to build me a fire while I ate banana and some peanut butter.

I was thankful.

Then the cooking began. About 10 minutes into my brussels sprouts prep…

I almost cut off my finger and was sidelined from cooking. Sweet Meeker and my sister-in-law picked up the slack for me.

We sat down for our meal around 4:30.

Stuffing, asparagus, sweet potatoes, salad, carrots, brussles sprouts, and cranberry sauce
And as of right now, I’m too full for dessert. If I don’t rally in a couple of hours – I know exactly what I’ll be having for breakfast: bread pudding, fudge, and pie.
Happy Thanksgiving! I am truly thankful for you all!

That would be a pretty tasty breakfast. And starting the day with a walk sounds perfect! I’m going to have to remember that for next year. I hurt too much when I woke up this morning.
Ouch! Hope your finger feels better.
Looks like an amazing Thanksgiving spent with a loving family. Happy Thanksgiving!
There has to be room for dessert!
It’s like the most important part…maybe aside from the sweet potatoes!
As long as it shows up for breakfast, I guess it’s OK
