Let’s get to it.
Breakfast (repeat)

Rice chex, Love Grown granola, chia seeds, oats – I poured vanilla soy milk over it all after the picture. Those Chex get soggy fast!
Lunch

Rice and beans
Snack Drawer

Grapefruit, blackberries, muffin, empty apple sweater (which had an apple in it when the day started)

Udi’s gluten free blueberry muffins – a huge homerun in my book. Usually I don’t buy gluten free goodies because they cost so much $$, but this was on sale, and I’m so happy about it.
Dinner

Romain lettuce, broccoli slaw, celery and Gena’s balsamic tahini dressing

sweet potato with the same dressing
I wrapped this sweet potato (along with two russet potatoes for Meeker) in foil, and put them in the crock pot before I left for work this morning. 10.5 hours later…a perfect, gushy sweet potato.
Dessert

Nothin’ but bananas – (oh, and sprinkles) food processed into (yummy) oblivion.

In the 3rd grade world…
Remember the eloquent student who complained about his school uniform giving him a wedgie? Well, today he came up to me and said…
Mrs. Unger, you are getting so fat. Are you sure you’re not having two or three babies?
(For the record, I’m sure.)
Later in the day, he got into a fist fight with another girl in my class during a group project. I didn’t see how it started, but I can’t help but wonder if he called her fat, too…

OMG… the things kids say…. !
Hey pretty Katie!
Haha just catching up on you old posts; the soda dite is too cute. Kids are the best comedians sometimes, and they don’t even realize it.
And um, your dessert photos are STELLAR!
Hahahah, I love the last part of this post. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case either! And by the way, that banana soft serve looks legit!
You’re the first blogger who I see top it with sprinkles. Looks a lot tastier this way
Potatoes cooked in the crock is one of my favorite things.
::gasp:: I’m sorry your student has NO self control!
hahaha kids! mmm i want sprinkles. i might just go eat some. without ice cream. weird.
great idea with the crockpot potatoes! never tried that…gonna have to
Kids! When a friend of mine was pregnant with her second, her son asked her why her belly was so big. She explained that a baby was growing in there and he thought about it a minute. Then he says “then what’s growing in your butt?”
hahahahahah!!! i’m glad no one asked me that when i was pregnant!!!!!!
Ah, you so missed your chance! What you should have said was, “Yes, I am sure! What is your mom’s excuse?”… Okay, maybe not. But I do believe in treating kids like equals… this probably has to change in the near future
HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR BANANA SOFT SERVE??
Mine never has looked that good before!!
I want to try that Tahini dressing and I got some Udi’s sitting in my freezer!
Happy Naational Bean day! I see you got your beans goiin!
Ahh, I didn’t even know it was national bean day! Thanks for letting me know I celebrated!
And to make the banana soft serve, I just put 2 frozen bananas in my food processor and whirred them up. I had to stop it twice to wipe the sides of the bowl down, but otherwise – that was it. I think it’s the sprinkles that make it look so good.
ahh banana soft serve looks insanee!! mine totally failed when i tried!….. also Im defs trying that tahini combo with the sweet potato- TODAY
This has got me hankering for banana soft serve with sprinkles! Need to pop some in the freezer!
Your quotes make me wish I’d been an elementary school teacher. I thought about it for awhile and ultimately decided against it, but come on…how can you not smile when kids say stuff like that?!
Haha! Kids just say whatever comes to their mind! I don’t know how I would respond to that statement. =P You sure handle a lot of crazy stuff in the 3rd grade world!
oh gosh. i think between hormones and frustration, i would’ve smacked that kid. lol.
xo.
Haha, that is awful! There’s not really even room for one baby in there yet. You’re the cutest little pregnant woman ever!
Ha! Kids are so funny! I loved those apple sweaters so much that we bought them for my kiddos’ teachers this year and they LOVED them!
Kids really do just say whatever is on their mind. My two haven’t embarrassed me yet (knock on wood) but I’m waiting for it to happen.
sweet potatoes in the crock pot. Great idea!
oh my gosh, that is horrible he said that! hahaha! gotta love kids.
that dressing looks good. it never really appealed to me until i saw that picture.
Kids. They don’t have a filter!!!
Banana soft serve; delicious! I haven’t had that in awhile, I think that needs to change
Jen
I never would have even *though* to cook my sweet potatoes in the crockpot. What an awesome idea. Dinner doesn’t get much simpler (or tastier, for that matter.)
(p.s. Three cheers for the banana fro-yo! I need to make some soon.
)
banana soft serve is just the most delicious way to end the day – love the addition of sprinkles! that is always a must for me
hahaha omg kids have NO FILTER its hiarlious!!! i remember there was a little girl at my camp when I was a counselor and there was another older girl with braces and she always wanted to touch the ‘pretty metal beads’ on her mouth! it was hilarious!
good to know the udi’s muffins are a good find! they sure do look delicious and homemade!
hahaha…i love that that kid just straight up called you fat. hopefully he’ll learn the difference later on in life…and to keep his lips zipped…or he may get in many more fights
arent udi’s products awesome!
hey! are you using your new camera? I can tell!
need to buy some sprinkles! <3
I noticed your Good Earth Tea – It’s my favorite & drink it all the time! Also, Udi’s is one of the best GF brands, but you’re right, it’s $$.
