Smiley to Whiney

You all are so sweet! I can’t get over how nice all of your comments were yesterday – I certainly don’t feel nearly as cute as you say I look. But I’m not one to turn down a compliment, so keep them coming. Flattery will get you everywhere.

I worked out this morning, then came home craving a popsicle. I ate a popsicle at 6am.

After showering and such, I had my typical breakfast.

Love that sunshine. I’ve noticed the sun getting up earlier and earlier this week and it makes me so smiley.

Shredded wheat + grape nuts + strawberries also makes me smiley.

We had a teacher appreciation lunch at school today…the theme was Italian Feast.

Although I sincerely appreciate the gesture, Italian food isn’t my favorite. It makes me sleepy, and usually gives me a tummy ache. So I decided to jam my plate full of salad and fruit, with just a tiny bit of pasta salad on the side.

But, I was starving after this plate, so I went back to the lounge and ate more pasta. And more fruit. And a piece of banana cake. (Yes, I always want cake).

And now I’m sort of paying for my choices. I have a stomach ache and I’m feeling whiney. (The whininess could have something to do with being incredibly pregnant. But, I prefer to blame the Italian food. There’s no way it was the cake).

So for now, dinner is on hold. (But there’s a very good chance it will involve some tea and a popsicle.)

In the 3rd grade world…

Birthday treat win.

I generally turn down donuts, store bought cupcakes, and those nasty soft cookies with an inch of pink frosting + sprinkles. (I detest those). But I gladly accepted this caramel and chocolate covered marshmallow. I’m going to have to remember this when Baby Cakes is old enough to celebrate her birthday at school.

  1. Ugh, some of the treats my students bring in have so much nasty frosting on them! The large amount of sugar-filled frosting could make me sick on sight! Cupcake cakes are the worst.. a set of cupcakes.. with frosting.. topped with a massive amount of frosting to make it look like a sheet cake. No thank you.

  2. YUM. That marshmallow thing is such a good idea! I’ll try to remember to remind you when Baby Cakes is in school and it’s time to make something for her birthday :)

I’m with you on the store bought cupcakes and the soft cake-like cookies with the frosting…those things taste like eating pure sugar. It’s an instant head rush and it all just turns to mush as soon as it hits your mouth.

Aaaanyway – sorry you’re feeling less than stellar, I’m feeling that way myself and I’m not even pregnant so at least you have an excuse!!

    • You know, it probably does. I gave up gluten and dairy for a few months and rarely felt icky during that time – but I just CRAVE dairy (and bread) lately, and so I’ve kind of gone back to eating it. I think I’ll steer clear as much as possible from now on – I forgot that it’s not worth it. :-)

  3. That mom rocks; I would love a chocolate caramel marshmallow!! Sorry you’re feeling whiney. I’m not in love with Italian food either, I’d definitely not blame the cake :)

  4. I’m a teacher too, and I know exactly which cookies you are talking about! And I don’t blame you for passing on store bought cupcakes either. I do the same.

  5. Italian food always used to make me feel… well… less than great. That was before I realized I was gluten-intolerant. Millet bread and black bean pasta are awesome alternatives, and they make my stomach feel awesome. Could this be it? Otherwise, you might just be very pregnant and feeling off for whatever reason! Your breakfast looks awesome, and I will gladly remind you of those marshmallow treats so long as I am sent some ;)

  6. Yum.. that marshmallow looks soo good. I have to remember that next time I need to make a treat. My daughter is in third grade and I always send in home made treats :)

  7. I laughed when I saw your Italian feast plate and thought, I didn’t know pineapple was that popular in Italy except as maybe a gelato flavor. :)

You look beautiful in your last post. Glowing amazingly beautiful mama to be. Hang in there – she’ll be here before you know it.
