Showered with love (and food).

Because I’m kind of a freak about keeping things clean, I never thought I would experience the nesting urge like so many people have told me about. I figured that because I always want things incredibly neat and tidy, I wouldn’t even notice an impulse that made me want to clean and organize in preparation for Baby Cakes.

But when I found myself sanitizing the trash cans at 7am yesterday morning – I figured that was it. Since then, I’ve scrubbed grout, done 1000 loads of laundry, folded (and refolded) baby clothes and blankets, vacuumed, scheduled a carpet cleaning, cleaned the fans, re-organized bathroom drawers, and scrubbed the toilets.

I can only imagine that this is what it feels like to be possessed.

So, it’s a good thing I had a baby shower yesterday to snap me out of my manic cleaning frenzy.

My co-workers threw me (and Baby Cakes) a lovely shower, and I spent the afternoon laughing, getting waited on, eating cake, and opening gifts.

I feel so blessed to work with such generous people! After all of the goodies that were bestowed upon me, I truly feel ready, and now it’s just a matter waiting…hurry up Baby Cakes, I want to meet you!

  1. Argh, the waiting. I felt like I was doing really well until last night. Now I’m anxious ball of nerves! Is the nesting the craziest thing? I was getting ready this morning and as I was pulling my make-up bag out of the medicine cabinet I decided it was the perfect time to go through all of the medicines and toss the expired ones, 30 minutes later and the bathroom cabinets had all been sorted through.

Sounds like the shower was wonderful and you have some awesome coworkers. Oh and you definitely do not look like a big balloon!

  2. Love the colors pink and brown in that last photo. Honestly.. you look so amazing (just like everyone else is telling you!). You are just pregnant in your belly… a basketball belly. I am excited to meet baby cakes too!
What a nice gesture by your coworkers..btw

    • We missed you!! The diaper cake was the BEST thing I’ve ever seen. You are incredibly talented…thank you so, so much! (Also, I have that little round board to give back to you!)

  3. I hope I look that gorgeous when I’m pregnant! I know I will have nesting like crazy..
I really like the theme for the baby shower.

  4. You look fantastic and I can’t WAIT to see the little lady! Are you still teaching at this point?

I love the whole nesting thing – it’s such a weird phenomenon but it has happened to every mother-to-be I’ve known. My friend’s husband caught her mowing the lawn and pulling up bushes at 6am when she was 39 weeks! Funny thing is, she didn’t have any interest in landscaping before then. I think she also washed his car….? At least your manic episode was a little more beneficial! (We desperately need our carpets cleaned too….)

    • Haha…it is SUCH a weird phenomenon. I literally felt possessed this weekend, I was exhausted, but couldn’t stop. And yes, I’m still teaching – the plan is to work up until I deliver. Fingers crossed!

  5. your hair is sooo long, health, gorgeous! are you taking prenatal vitamins, supposedly they work wonders on hair and nails…anyways you look radiant :)

  6. Aw yay!! So much fun! I wish I could’ve been there :) Or I at least wish my gift had made it on time! Oh well, it will keep the party going all week long when it arrives later this week!

  7. so FUN!! you look beautiful in PINK! we are just always talking about the new sweetness of a cousin, and would like to come to see you. Do you have a busy weekend?
