Due Date

I’ve been waiting for this date for 10 months. And it came and went with no action whatsoever.

But I really can’t complain – I feel good, and I have a healthy, hefty little nugget who is content with cooking a little longer. I woke up around 1am, and wanted to go into labor so badly that I worked out – complete with jumping jacks, squats, jump rope, and lunges. But little miss Baby Cakes is happy right where she is. She’ll get here when she’s good and ready – and I just need to give up control. Not an easy thing for this Mama, but I’m trying.

The good news…for teacher appreciation week the parents brought us breakfast!

You can’t go wrong with fruit and bagels.

At lunchtime, I walked laps around the soccer field, and then had a salad.

Spinach, cucumbers, blackberries, balsamic vinaigrette

I had some fruit later in the afternoon – but my appetite is a little weak today. I’m sure I’ll be hoovering popsicles before the night is over, and possibly another box of mac and cheese. We shall see.

Until then, I’ll leave you with a gem from my day…

In the 3rd grade world

Technically, it is a simile – and that’s what I asked for.

  1. Ahhhh I love the simile! That is classic!
Your belly looks amazing. What a fit pregnancy you have! It is rare that you hear of a woman getting in a true workout .. on her due date..

  2. Maybe you should try the opposite of what you have been doing and kick back and relax (eat as much ice cream and popsicles as you can!) only a lil more time and you will be wishing for those hours of sleep back (so I’m told ;) !) I am soooo excited for you!!!!

  3. That is SOO cute!! I love it! LOL. Like a snake! ahah, arn’t ours all? lololol

Ahh! Babycakes is comin! I feel a vibe! Stick in their!

  4. haha.. i like that tales from the 3rd grade today.. hilarious.

GOSH, when is she gonna come?! i hope soon. maybe on 5-6-11 because 5+6=11 ;)

  5. That’s a pretty talented 3rd grader you’ve got there – a bird’s eye view of a toilet! lol You look fabulous! Have you picked out her name already or are you waiting to meet her?!

  6. Oh my, those third graders! Never a dull moment…

Your cursive is so lovely…do you teach your students cursive, or just how to read it?

  7. Maybe your hump will be gone on humpday! Okay, so that was cheesy, but I am pretty sure she will come as soon as you least expect it… Which I am sure is pretty difficult with it always being on your mind! Have you tried coaxing her out with some cake or brownies? I hear this works…

  8. Ahahahahahaha. How do you not die laughing everyday with those kiddos? You just gotta love kids…you NEVER know what you’re going to come up with next.

I can’t believe Baby Cakes isn’t here yet!! But at least you look PHENOMENAL!! I can’t believe you’re pregnant – other than your belly you would seriously never know!

I hope she comes on May 5th – Cinco de Mayo will be a fun birthday to celebrate (plus I just love that date). That means JUST ONE MORE DAY!!!! :D

Hang in there – love you!!

  9. Thank you for making my day with that beautiful 3rd grade illustration. Aahah.

And hey, it’s okay…. longer cookin’ babies make for a pretty, healthy, fat baby. I was two weeks late (my mom had to finally be induced), and look how great I turned out! ;)

Hahah.. no, but really. It’s a good thing. :) Sending lots of well-wishes your way.

  10. Oh my gosh PRICELESS “in the 3rd grade world”today!

I think baby cakes will be in for at least another week – you don’t look like you’re low riding yet! She still looks pretty high!

  14. My sweet baby niece was 8 days late and we said that she was too comfortable and warm to come out (she was due December 19 and came on the 27th)! She was rediculously healthy and chubby though so we always think she needed the extra days! Good luck! LOVE your blog!

I can’t believe you’re still waiting for that little girl to arrive- she must be waiting for something very special :)
That picture of the toilet had me in tears laughing so hard- I immediately took a picture of my computer screen & sent it to my fiance- he got a kick out of it too! :)
