It was finally warm today! So sunny and pleasant, it completely made my day. In fact, when we were just 30 minutes from the end of school – I forced my 3rd graders to go outside for extra recess, just so I could enjoy walking some laps around the soccer field in the sunshine.
My appetite is still wonky.

Biggest meal of the day – kashi honey sunshine, oats, almonds, milk
I packed a lunch, but then discovered there was Mexican food in the teacher’s lounge (happy cinco de mayo!) – and made myself this plate.

However, one bite into this and I gagged. Some ingredient somewhere on this plate tasted like dish soap, and I had to immediately throw it away for fear of throwing up. Then I washed out the soapy taste out with about five servings of fruit.

Delightful.
When I got home, I went for a walk – just to enjoy the last drops of sunshine (and possibly coax little Baby Cakes into the world). The afternoon was so gorgeous that I felt euphoric. Summer is juuussst around the corner.
Dinner was light because I wasn’t hungry in the slightest – but knew I needed to fuel myself with something.

Sweet potato rounds dipped in spicy bbq sauce
In the 3rd grade world…
Remember my ex-Chinese student from last year? She was in my room using one of my classroom computers this afternoon, when she volunteered this little tidbit…
Mrs. Unger – did you know that when I was born, my head was too fat to fit through my mom’s bottom, so they had to slice her up to get me out?
No, I didn’t know that. Aaaand I miss you and your misunderstandings. I’m sure my readers do, too.

Oh my gosh. Oh. My. Gosh. Oh my gosh.
I so should have been a teacher.
That is a shame you couldn’t enjoy the fiesta for Cinco De Mayo
The fruit looks great though and reminds me that summer is just around the corner!
I lost my appetite before I had my son. I didn’t get it back until about a month or so after he’d been around. Your students are hilarious.
Oh my gosh… hahaha!
Annnnnd… I can’t believe you’re still pregnant.
I can’t believe it, either. In fact, it’s kind of infuriating.
you should take a walk w/your belly exposed! Your mom sent me an article about a gal who did this, and I LOVED IT! I just thought of it, and you SO should do it. Beautiful belly!
Wow – fitting through her mom’s bottom! Yikes!
The soap taste must have been cilantro somewhere on your plate!
The soap taste was definitely cilantro, it tastes the same to me! Yuck!
The NY Times sums it up pretty well: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/14/dining/14curious.html
Teehehehehe! That made me laugh out loud! So cute and kinda TMI! Too funny! I love your kids!
Your breakfast looks so delightful!
C’mon baby cakes! C’mon!
I love cilantro and hope it never taste like soap b/c I’d cry
I am glad she said bottom and not another body part ha!! Ben was like that too…18 hours but it happens when it happens. I told you babycakes is an overachiever!
You breakfast is giving me cravings right now!!
It looks SO good!!! Almonds, Oats, and Almond Milk are staples with my breakfasts.
Whoh. Haha, I so should be a teacher.
I want that sweet potato. I have been craving them like crazy lately. So, I went and got the new chick fi la sweet potato waffle fries. that counts right? in case you were wondering–they were delicious.
I rocked a sundress today. ‘Bout time!
Why do I keep seeing posts from you???? You need to be in labor!
Hahahah.. what an innocent, yet completely inaccurate comment! Too cute!
Happy Friday!
It’s gotta be tough pushing any baby out of your bottom. I can see why her mom had difficulty.
And KATIE!! You were supposed to go into labor today! What’s going on!?! Baby Cakes needs to get with my program
I keep waiting for you not to have blog updates so I can text you and say “IS IT TIME!?!?!”
Hahaha. Wouldn’t that be awful though? Hilarious. You’ve got to be moments from popping so you should try to laugh as often as possible.
I love this! I’m a teacher also & kids say the funniest things!! Thank you for sharing!

I’m really hoping that we don’t see a blog post from you tonight… I’m sure you are getting really anxious!
I hope Babycakes (and/or your appetite) comes (back…) soon (like now-ish would be good)!! I have 3 pregnant friends right now too… one of them 3 days past her due date as well so I know through her how you must be feeling!

At least her parents told her the truth….?? No stork stories or anything but man, I bet she could freak out some of her classmates with that story!
I’m on edge for you over here – every time a post is a little late or you go a day without posting I’m like “This is it!”. Here’s hoping you have a little something (someone) extra to celebrate on Mother’s Day!
Oh I forgot about Kashi Honey Sunshine! IT IS SO GOOD! I need to get a box. Um, bummer on the dishsoap fiesta platter, yuck. Haha.. oh.. your ex student cracks me up.
