Yesterday was an empty day. You know the kind…no matter what you eat, not matter how much, you’re still hungry.
So, I was foraging around the pantry looking for something to fill me up when I stumbled upon a very old bag of pretzels. I think they expired last year.

I’m not a huge fan of pretzels, they always taste stale to me, regardless of the expiration date. And I like sweet snacks, not salty. So my first thought was to dip them in chocolate sauce.
Then I remembered that I gave up sugar for this month.
Then I remembered the glaze that I put on my sugar-free doughnuts.

Done.
Then I remembered a variety of sprinkles sitting in my pantry. Just waiting to be put to use.

Sprinkles make everything better, am I right?

Then I remembered that sprinkles are just colorful bits of sugar, and I made myself a peanut butter drizzled pretzel to enjoy.
I guess Babycakes will have to eat the rest for me.

I don’t think she’ll mind.

Sugar-Free Chocolate Sauce
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup agave
- ¼ cup coconut oil, melted
Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth. Could that be any easier?
This makes way more than you need to cover six pretzels like I did, so just go wild. Almonds, strawberries, spoons – all of these things love being dipped in chocolate.

sprinkles are such a happy food! and that baby of yours gets cuter by the day
You are so right! These are too pretty.
Super cute idea! That would be an awesome party treat for my sons birthday this fall. Saving this one for sure.
Way to take an expired food and turn things around!
And unfortunately, I’ve run out of my agave as of today. Rats.
Mmm – those look delicious. Wanna bring some over and you, me and Babycakes can have an Everwood party!?
Absolutely, I do.
Oh my gosh, what a great recipe! I love those choco covered pretzel stick- pretty.
And I def know what you mean about those empty days- I hate those!! I end up eating a million little things all day long.
Such pretty pretzels! I’m not a huge fan of them either, but i’d eat these any day of the week!
I really want to do a sugar free month sometime soon! Maybe after I get back from my vacation next month! I gave up all sweets for this past Lent so I know I can do it!
haha I was just thinking of chocolate sauce today, wondering how i could make some sugar free! I want some for my agave-sweetened soy vanilla ice cream. The pretzel sticks are so pretty!
Mmm, it would be perfect on ice cream!
Those look so pretty. I actually really like pretzel rods. They remind me of going to Stride-Ride for shoes as a kid. I guess they had pretzels?
Haha, I totally remember Stride-Ride!
I want to munch on one of those pretzels!!
They look So good!
Mmm chocolate covered pretzels… sugar free.. game over!!
HOLY mother. These look amazing. As in, so amazing I might consider doin’ a little dance!
do it! dance!
I want to make this right now. And dip the entire contents of my pantry/freezer in it.
Or just eat it with a spoon, whichever.
The spoon is my favorite vehicle for chocolate. No interference.
Those treats look amazing! Moms have made these for my school parties, but they were not sugar-free! The kids gobbled them up right along with the fresh veggies and fresh fruit. I think I should require that all party foods be sugar-free. It would be a win/win for everyone.
Hug that cute baby for me!
not only are they pretty, but they look delicious!! i love chocolate covered pretzels. like a lot.
Wish I could send you some without them crumbling to bits!
I love chocolate covered pretzels! And I love that your sugar free sauce looks easy to make. Now I just need to find me some gluten-free pretzels and I’m set. Ever seen GF pretzels?
yes! The brand is called “Glutino” and they are delicious! I housed a bag a week during my first trimester of pregnancy. Yum, yum.
Agave is pretty much the same thing as sugar, like honey, no?
Yes, it is absolutely sugar, you are right. But I tried to cut out refined white sugar for a month. That’s what I mean by “no-sugar’…thanks for the clarification!
I love how these look! Sprinkles make everything better
Wow! Those are so pretty!! Perfect to have around for company…or in your case just everyday life! ha! You amaze me!
But agave is sugar…so how can you call these sugar-free?
I have to be honest, when I read the title of this post I was VERY skeptical. But looking at the recipe/photos of the end product. YUM! Great idea
They’re almost too pretty to eat!
What a wonderful way to use up stale pretzels!
Yummy! And babycakes is getting cuter by the day.
Those are so pretty! And without sugar?! Amen to that!
YUM! I need to make this and dip lots and lots of pretzels in it!
im playing catch up and i just did a triple take – these pretz look FANTASTIC! i adore salty treats, but salty AND sweet treats together? heaven.
