Any fans of The Office out there?
Meeker and I have probably seen every single episode five times, and could quote it at you for hours on end. We don’t have many friends. And Adrienne doesn’t seem to mind.
Anyway, remember that episode where Ryan, Pam, and Michael sit on the floor of their “office” sharing confessions that echo a very Breakfast Club feeling? Well, if you haven’t seen it, Ryan admits that didn’t spend a year in Thailand, but instead, spent a few months in Ft. Lauderdale where he ate some really good Pad Thai.
This is sort of like that.
I’ve never been to Thailand. But I do love some good Thai food. (Or what I imagine Thai food is like). After eating Mama Pea’s thai crunch salad yesterday, I had to have more.
More Thai flavors in my life. More delicious salad. So, I made another.
Thai Broccoli Slaw
Ingredients
1/2 head shredded cabbage
2 c broccoli slaw (I buy this in a bag – generic kroger brand, see picture above)
1 mango, diced
handful of cilantro leaves
Dressing
1/4 c lemon juice
2 T chopped ginger
1 T red pepper flakes
1 T tahini
1 c almond butter
1 T reduced sodium soy sauce
2 T agave
1/2 cup water*
1 t salt
Combine all ingredients for the dressing in a food processor and blend until smooth. *You may need to add more or less water depending on how thick you’d like it.
Combine the cabbage, broccoli slaw, mango and cilantro in a bowl, then add the dressing.
Just like Ryan Howard, you’re probably going to eat this and then go around telling every one that you just spent a year in Thailand. But what do I know, I’ve never been to Thailand.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone in your Office-obsessed ways. I just quoted it the other night and got a very puzzled look in return. (“My how the turn-tables have…. turned…”) one of my faves.
And this looks amazing. Must go buy broccoli slaw….
Hahaha, love that line – gosh, it’s just such a good show.
This has got to be cheaper than going to Thailand…which means I’m likely to be a fan!
Absolutely – I could make this salad 100 times and still have saved money.
I loved that episode! My all-time favourite office line is Dwight’s “I now have the strength of a grown man AND a little baby”. I’m actually laugh right now as I type that out. Your thai slaw looks delicious!
Haha, and I am laughing as I read it.
I (of course!) love The Office and know JUST what episode you’re talking about! That slaw looks innnnncredible! (love the red pepper flakes on the side!). You need to watch Parks and Rec too – it’s almost more quote-worthy than The Office!
Of course I already watch Parks and Rec…Meeker likes it more than the office actually. My favorite character is “Bright” from Everwood – I can’t remember his name in the show now, but I love him anyway.
That dressing sounds amazing!
that looks FANTASTIC!! oh my gosh I love thai asian slaw salad dishes (if that is all one dish LOL) you know what I mean! My mom has made this asian slaw before that I always crave!! I love that this has almond butter in the mix! YES
That looks so good! I love Thai food! Can we still be friends if I admit to never having seen one episode of The Office??
Absolutely! But if we hang out, I’m going to make you watch it.
I LOVE the office. and I LOVE this recipe. and I LOVE you.
Oh dear, I think we may have a love triangle going on here…
I love you right back. So technically, this is a love rectangle…or square.
That looks FANTASTIC! I love anything Thai-ish
I plan to try to get into the Office now that James Spader is on it.
Mmm, that slaw looks really tasty! I love mangoes and anything Thai. My boyfriend and I also love The Office (and also don’t have many friends, haha). I love when Holly first appeared on the show and she thought Kevin was “special”. That whole exchange for a few episodes was just too funny.
Oh man, you had me at the mango. Plus peanut butter? Sounds amazing!
Ah I LOVE Thai salads/slaws!! This looks incredible! I mean mango, almond butter… count me in
And I admit I’ve never seen The Office… is that crazy or what?!
<3 <3
I love The Office. I swear, my office is NOT that different. My favorite line to quote from the show is, “you are remembering it wrong”. Do you know the episode Im talking about? It was SO funny!!
Oh my goodness, Meeker and I say that to each other at least once a day!
I love the office but don’t watch it enough. I don’t watch tv in general enough. Are you and Meeker still without TV?
Anyways, this recipe looks really good and I LOVE thai food so I know I’d love this recipe!
Yup, still no TV…but all seasons of the office are on instant netflix.
I am so hungry that I was hoping I could just take my fork and start eating through my computer screen! This looks so good. I will have to make this one once I get the ingredients. Missed you today at school. It was a good day anyway
! Hugs to you and Baby A!
Katie, your photos are beautiful!!
We love the Office, “that’s what she said”
I have half a bag of broccoli slaw left from making the thai burgers too and now I know what I am going to do with it! Thank you!
This looks delicious – I”ve never really “gotten into” The Office, but watch it sometimes!
hahahaha that WAS an epic episode! i’ve never had thai or been to thailand but i am loving this recipe!
Ha, ha. I’m totally in love with The Office!
Fact. Bears eat beets. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the Office!!!
Bahaha! That is one of my all time favorites!
I am obsessed with the Office! Love it. I was just thinking about making a slaw of some sort. This looks amazing. I am thinking about doing one with daikon radish. Stay tuned.
Mmmm, can’t wait!
Love the Breakfast Club (i haven’t seen that in ages!), and I think i’d love the recipes in Mama Pea’s book… yet another cookbook you’ve convinced me I need in my life. Sure you never worked in marketing before??
We watch The Office several times a week in syndication. My favorite episode was when Michael burned his foot on the George Foreman grill.
I love broccoli slaw – I’m bookmarking this recipe!
That’s such a classic. “You grilled your foot”…”I burned my foot!”
i loooove the office. ive seen every ep multiple times except for this last season (which we somehow didnt start recording and then didnt want to come in part way).
i tivo-ed and re-watched the wedding episode (and cried) at LEAST 6 times the first week it came out. the opening song is also my ring tone.
Wow this looks incredible! I’ve been wanting to use broccoli slaw for awhile now!
Give me a moment while I pick my jaw up off the floor…
This is by far the best salad/slaw dressing I have ever had! I made a few modifications (a little less AB and lots more ginger/red pepper/lemon juice/water) Easy, healthy, homemade, and addictively tasty…Thank you so much for sharing! Can’t wait to try it on my broccoli slaw for lunch tomorrow
Oh I’m so glad!!! It is one of my favorites – I’m thrilled that you liked it, too! Thanks for letting me know.

did you mean to say 1 CUP of almond butter? it seems like a lot!
It is a cup of almond butter – but you don’t use even CLOSE to all of the dressing for this slaw. I just made a lot of dressing.
Thanks for the question!
