Remember how I told you I loved fall?
I do. But it has nothing to do with cooler temperatures. It has everything to do with the food. And the colors.
I like to be warm all the time.
So, during fall I love to wear sweatshirts. I love to eat soup. And I love to drink hot water with lemon all day long.
I realize this makes me sound about 50 years older than I am…but it’s the truth. I’m an old soul.
Are you ready for some fall soup?
Pumpkin Cauliflower Soup
- 1 can pumpkin puree
- 1 head cauliflower, broken or cut into pieces
- 4 c broth (chicken or vegetable)
- 1/2 t allspice
- 1/4 t nutmeg
- 1/2 t ground ginger
- 1 t salt
- 1 c milk*
- goat cheese (for serving)
Add all ingredients except for the milk to the crockpot and cook on high for 4-5 hours. Then, using an emersion blender (or transfer to a regular blender or food processor), blend the soup until smooth and add the milk.
(*I used cow’s milk, but think that coconut or almond milk would be fantastic, too)

Come November I have a constant mug of hot water at my desk. Old lady or not, it keeps me warm!
Just hot water? Like, without tea in it?
I’m not sure about that! The soup, on the other hand, I am sure about… it looks marvelous.
I am definitely making this, and mostly because I have all the ingredients waiting for me at home. And if loving soup and sweaters makes you 50 well then retirement, here I come.
I’ve never had pumpkin soup before, but I love all things pumpkin so I’m pretty sure it’d be a hit! I love fall too, my favorite season by far.
I have a new found love for crock pot recipes and this one looks and spunds perfect for fall!
Looks so yummy! Do I spy some sliced Udi’s multigrain bread? That is Bill’s favorite bread besides my homemade staple that I bake weekly.
Yes! It was on sale (in the reject section at King Soopers) for 79 cents!
This is just another reaffirmation why i need a crockpot..I just made a yummy pumpkin soup too actually, but it was a Bobby Flay recipe. Love your addition of cauliflower though!
I have a major celebrity crush on Bobby Flay. Plus I think my husband looks like him…I need to check out his recipe.
I’m 85, too! I wear a robe and slippers all day every day. We’re bloggers. We’re allowed.
May I swim in that soup, please?
I, too, am an old soul. I like a peaceful night on the couch, glasses on, all cuddly in my footie pajamas. I actually hate today’s music and films…much prefer the classics and 80′s rock ballads or just a little James Taylor.
I love wearing sweatshirts too. It’s probably my fave part of fall! The soup looks yummy!
I have a serious craving for butternut squash soup!! This reminds me of it!
But with a high here today of 92 I don’t see soup on my menu anytime soon. Ha! I know I gripe about the weather a lot…I need to work on that!!
I think I would be griping about 92 degrees in October, too…and I LOVE hot weather. I’ll try to send some clouds and cooler temps your way.
Thanks! Word on the street is that tomorrow I may get my wish!
I’m obsessed with pumpkin recipes right now. This looks so good. Maybe I’ll make it for our pumpkin carving night this Friday.
I love soup. I could eat it all year. This looks like it’s right up my ally! I love that you included the cauliflower. I think it gives soups a nice creaminess without all the added cream.
I think cauliflower is a miracle vegetable…tastes just like mashed potatoes to me!
I love this creamy but healthy recipe – can’t wait to try it!
pumpkin soup rocks! Did you see the crockpot pumpkin soup I made yesterday? –crockpots are the best!

Oh wow, this looks fabulous! I love that you added crumbled goat cheese on top. I’m obsessed with that stuff!
I agree. It’s all about the food.
Well. And the cozy hoodies and jeans, although in another month or so I’ll probably be whining that I miss flip-flop season.
This soup looks wonderful!
This sounds amazing and healthy! Too bad I don’t have any cauliflower on hand. I wonder how this would taste with broccoli..
I just stinking love you.
We are the same exact person…down to the sweaters, liking to be warm and drinking hot water with lemon!
Your soup looks fabulous. Love the “set it and forget it” action, too!
Oh baby this sounds incredible!
mmmm, that soup looks tasty!
and fall colors are kind of the BEST! so stoked about this season.
I think this will come in handy as it’s cold outside and I not home all day! Coming home to a homecooked meal would be fabulous!
I like the version of microwaving them for right 3.5 minutes!
I am totally bookmarking this because I have a head of cauliflower that I haven’t decided what to do with. What a terrific and simple recipe!
I’m an old person at heart because I love my slippers! At least I don’t go to the store with curlers in my hair… yet.
I just put this in the crockpot – thanks for the recipe!! Looks great!
