I don’t remember the last time I had an egg. But this morning seemed like a good day for it. Mostly because last night I got hungry after dinner and I made oatmeal…I took a bite and remembered that I don’t really love oatmeal.
And because this morning was a chilly one, an egg and ciabatta bread sounded like a good idea.
Oh heavens. I forgot how good that yolk tastes.
Aaaand guess what?
It’s snowing!!

Snowing?!!!! It’s 80 here. What the? Lol!
I know, right? It’s supposed to be in the 70s again by Friday!
the thought of snow makes me want to cry–although she looks super cute all bundled up
i eat an egg with a runny yolk at least once a week—loooooooove it!
Oh my goodness! First snowfalls…possibly the one thing I miss about my childhood in Boston
I love eggs to but also don’t eat the a lot. Maybe a couple times a month.
Hope your staying warm inside with all the snow outside!
Oh my gosh, I eat an egg every day! And the warm yolk, all runny and oozing down my face and shirt is…OH WHOA. that part doesn’t happen.
..or does it?
Love yolks, so delicious!! It may be my imagination but I feel like I can taste the protein. Hope your snow is uneventful! I’m not looking forward to that out here in Michigan…
I heard that you guys might be getting up to a foot by tonight! I’m coming to Denver in two weeks and I hope I can ski while I’m there!
Snowing!? I’m pretty sure if that happened right now I’d have my bags packed and ready to move down to Florida by the time my husband got home from work. Not ready for that yet!
i LOVE egg yolks, especially with bread dipped in it!
can’t believe you have snow!!
looks delicious!! So jealous you are having snow!! It’s 80 down here
1. holy gorgeous photos and 2. i’m coming over to play in the snow.
Beautiful pics! It should be in a magazine.
And…????…snow!?! I don’t’ think I’m ready. Time to mentally start preparing myself.
Gah! I just want to eat her up!! That little adorable bundle.
And yay for snow!! I hope you guys have such a nice cozy day together
Um, that looks so wonderful! This is the second blog in a row I’ve read featuring egg yolk and now I know what I’m having for dinner.
Wow . . . I cant believe its snowing already. Actually, I can. A couple of years ago I went to Colorado in early October and it snowed the night we got there. Thats what happens in the mountains.
The yolk may be the best part of the egg. I’ve never understood why people eat egg whites only.
Runny yolks were one of the things I missed the most while I was pregnant. Baby A looks so cute all bundled up–winter time is going to be so much fun the with babies!
I don’t think I’ve had an egg since before I was pregnant…over a year ago! Crazy!
babycakes first snow!!
It actually snowed on the day she was born in May and a few weeks ago! So…3rd snow, but first time playing in it!
GAH! It’s supposed to snow here in Massachusetts on Thursday! You live in CO right? Please keep the flakes there! =)
xo Marie
Chocolate & Wine
Yes, Colorado…and I’ll try to contain luck!
May I bring Henry and Clara over in our snowsuits??
Yes, please!!! It’s still snowing!
YOLKS! they are the healthy fat
sure a bit high in cholesterol but in moderation they are so tasty!!!
look at your little snow angel!! is she precious or WHAT?!?! oh and Im roasting cabbage tonight and cannot wait!!
Snowing?! You are so lucky! I heard about a chance of flurries in my hood! lol
Cutest little baby snow flake!!!!
I love eggs and the dippy yolk. My favorite part!
1. i LOVE the yolk
2. i am so jealous of your snow!
I always forget to eat eggs. When I actually remember to, I always think ‘Wow, eggs are AMAZING!’ How beautiful is the colour of that yolk in your photo?
Snowing? I can’t imagine. I was just excited to put on a long sleeved shirt today.
I can’t remember the last time I had an egg yolk. We eat eggs in the carton from Costco. We’re classy.
PS- LOVE the last picture. Precious!
Ohhh the yolk IS the best part! Poached or over easy eggs make for an excellent pasta/burger/salad topping… instant ‘sauce’!
It is supposed to snow here in Boston tomorrow ahhhh!!! I am definitely not prepared and certainly not prepared with super cute snow gear like your Baby A! <3
I love that Babycakes is more prepared for winter than I am (here in Denver)! I donated both my & my husband’s winter coats this summer b/c they were too big…but they have yet to be replaced! Adrienne’s coat looks cute and warm…I need to follow her lead and get a coat!
I absolutely love an egg cooked perfectly over easy, flowing out all golden and delicious. Yum! Babycakes looks pretty darn cute in her winter garb.
As a side note, your pictures are just beautiful! So clean, crisp, and bright. Do you use special lighting? I’m so jealous!
Thank you! I just make sure to take photos between the hours of 9-11…that is when the light is best in my kitchen. (We have BIG windows)
Mmm I love ciabatta!
I like eggs, particularly the yoke
Adrienne is as usual utterly adorable, how exciting that it’s her first snow!
I love her little matching hat and coat
Ah, I saw that snowfall on CNN and it made me think of you.. Oy. But little babycakes is freakin’ adorbs, as usual.
Katie, I don’t love oatmeal either! I agree that egg yolk is such a tasty alternative! I love that you included bread with it because that’s great for dipping. Plus, your green leaf makes the meal look even more colorful and delicious!
So glad I’m not the only one…we are few and far between in this blog world!
the yolk is the BEST part…where ALL the nutrients are (or, the majority)…and to think i used to only eat the whites… shame, shame…
xo
I went and made a yolky egg for lunch yesterday after reading this post. I forget how tasty they are, especially with a big ol’ hunk a bread! Thanks for the reminder:)
I am glad I remembered, too!
SNOWING? It’s not even Halloween, hold your dang horses, snow!!
But what a cute snow-bunny!
I only love oatmeal when it’s mixed with peanut butter!!!!
The yolk is the best part of the egg. Sometimes I consider getting egg beaters, and then I realize there is no yolk. So I don’t.
I love everything mixed with peanut butter.
I wish there was snow in FL!! Beautiful baby
Yay! Baby A’s first snow!
We are getting our first week of our CSA next week, and this year we got organic/free range/vegetarian eggs in our box every two weeks. I haven’t been eating eggs because of the source, but I think it might be time to eat some more!
I’ve wanted to do CSA boxes for so long!!! I keep trying to justify the (slight) raise in price to Meeker, but he’s not buying it. Literally. I can’t wait to see how you like it!
I’d like to share a healthy alternative to eating the yolks of eggs and a good carbohydrate replacement to the bread…. Try hard boiling your eggs and after peeling off the shell, throw out the yolk and replace it with your favorite hummus. The more egg whites you can stomach, the better because it is pure, healthy protein! Along with your “healthy deviled eggs”, add your favorite fruit to the mix. This is the perfect morning meal! Hope this helps everybody!
