1. The snow is melting. There’s still almost a foot (I’m probably exaggerating) but it’s melting.
2. I’ve eaten way too many pumpkin scones in the last 24 hours.
3. I actually teared up while watching Regis and Kelly yesterday. What’s wrong with me? I’m going to miss Regis, he reminds me of my grandpa.
4. On Saturday I was driving home from my parents house and in the distance I saw something BIG in my lane of the highway. As I got closer, I realized it was a deer, walking towards me. I was going 75 miles per hour. I barely managed to swerve and miss it, but oh heavens, my heart rate is still through the roof.
5. Speaking of skyrocketing heart rates, have you checked out Tuesday Trainer this week? I just did it with two cans of pumpkin as my weights. You probably think I’m kidding, but I assure you it’s true. Our weights were in the garage and way too cold to pick up.
6. When number #4 was happening, I immediately flashed back to the time I was 5 years old and riding in my neighbor’s truck when we (he) hit a huge buck on the road. Then he got out of the truck and shot it in the head so it wouldn’t suffer.
7. I gave up coffee last week in hopes that Adrienne’s naps would last longer than 25 minutes, but it didn’t work. So, I’m drinking coffee again. Naps are still 25 minutes, but she’s still her happy, perky self – so I suppose it doesn’t really matter.
8. When #4 was happening, after I flashed back to my childhood, I flashed back to the time I was in college and riding in my friend’s car on the way home from skiing and we (he) hit a large buck and totaled his mom’s suburban.
9. My niece turned ONE yesterday. Remember when she was born?!
10. I had some friends over for dinner last night and made this and this. Successss.

Eeps, deer are scary! I just heard on the radio that a deer (in the city!) broke its way into a window at my alma mater, then hid in a storage closet. DNR had to put it down, the poor thing. Scary stuff! Glad to hear you’re ok!
PS. I made the same pumpkin scones and mine were awful.
Different ovens, I guess?
Yipes! That is kind of scary! And sorry about the scones…I hate it when recipes don’t work out!
Cans of pumpkin will totally work! Although two REAL pumpkins would probably have been better. Guess you’re just a lightweight.
I’ve not seen that runner trainy thingy, and I’m scared to click on it….
okay…1…2….3……omg.
Haha, you crack me up. I love this random list. Working out with cans of pumpkin is perfectly acceptable!
Ugh I reallllly don’t like those darn deer. I know people say its our fault for invading there space….but really….when I am honking at you….why don’t you run away….why do you freeze in place or come towards me?? I guess I feel strongly about this because my brother hit a deer in my car and wrecked the front, thank goodness he was ok, and people are always getting in serious car accidents because of them……But anywho…good for you for trying to cut out coffee….I’ve tried but I’ll be honest, its like chocolate or red wine…just too wonderful to go without
I hit a deer about a month after I got my lisense. I still get nervous driving at night in wooded areas. I made that polenta dish this week too. I subbed the gorgonzola for feta… it was a new favorite!
I am not kidding when I say that your baby is literally the cutest little baby girl I have ever seen. <3
P.s.
I have a great pumpkin bread recipe that I know you would love. Let me know if you are interested. Raisins and walnuts are incorporated in the batter, adding an awesome variety!
I’m always so scared I’m going to hit a deer! I’m glad you missed it!
Yes, I live under a rock…Regis is leaving?!? How did I miss that? I can’t believe it!
25 minute naps? How do you get anything done?!
I would have freaked over the deer. Glad you didn’t hit it. That would have been an ugly scenario at 75 mph. Eep!
Ever since I have become a mom I find I cry so easily over such random things. Like Regis.
Don’t worry – my little one used to NEVER sleep during the day – once he hit 7 months he just started sleeping for up to 2 hours at a time, twice a day… score! I almost crashed swerving to avoid a wombat once, it’s so scary.
Ahhh that is so encouraging to hear! It’s not like she’s fussy…it would just be nice to have some time to do things around the house!
I’m glad I’m not the only one that almost cried with Regis’ departure!! Good luck getting the little one to nap, enjoy your coffee!
I was sitting their during one of their “Regis tributes” with tears in my eyes and thinking “What the heck is wrong with me!?” – thanks for making me feel less like a loser about it.
Oh my gosh – I CANNOT BELIEVE ZAYLEE-JANE IS ONE ALREADY!!! It really does feel like just yesterday that she was born!
I’m seriously going to have a heart attack when Baby A turns one. I feel like it’s impossible for that to ever happen.
I’m so happy you’re loving the pumpkin scones (and that you are consuming them as ferociously as i did!).
Give that little hopped-up baby a kiss for me!
Haha, I’m glad you feel the same way I do…whenever people give us outfits that are 12 month size, I say “She’s never going to be this big. Ever.” – I think I’m in for a rude awakening.
Happy Birthday to your niece!
I’m going to a 1st bday party on Sunday!
So scary about that deer situation. I can imagine how scary that was. Last week a coyote ran across the street while I was driving, and it seriously scared the daylight out of me!
Im tempted to make those scones, but have to much to do this weekend and probably wont get around to it. Booo..
Coyotes are kind of creepy animals anyway – all lanky and ferocious looking. I would have been scared, too!
Those scones look fantastic! And anything with pumpkin in is practically a health food which meeeans free reign to eat as many as possible!!
Deer are freakin scary. I hit one once. Okay. I saw it.. I slammed on my breaks. And I bumped into him. He walked away. My car was fine.
I, however.. was hysterically crying. I called everyone I knew and told themI hit a deer. They figured my car was messed up. But I just sobbed and said my car was fine and I was scared..
Baby A is so darn cute! I just had to say it because I think it every time I see a picture of her on your blog:)
Oh my gosh, you’ve hit that many deer?!?!?! I am still amazed I never have, after growing up in MI where deer are everywhere. Better go knock on wood…
Oh and Adrienne is still only sleeping 25 minutes at a time? Blah! Do you use any white noise while she naps (fan, sleep machine, humidifier)? We always turn Riley’s bathroom fan on and leave the door open so that she has some white noise. Not sure if that really helps but we figure it will help block out other noise (neighbors loud-a** car every morning, barking dogs, etc).
We do have a little “sleep sheep” that makes white noise. She is usually a really good sleeper, it’s just the past few days. I’m not sure what’s up…
I saw a dead deer on the road not long ago. So sad. I can’t imagine actually coming close to hitting one. That would be probably the scariest thing ever.
i’m glad you’re okay – how scary! we get deer out here sometime on backroads sometimes, which of course are the worse roads to have deer wandering around.
i must make those pumpkin scones this weekend!
your dinner sounds amazing! i roasted a chicken the other night with jessica’s recipe too! i’ve never made homemade polenta. what do you think of those polenta rolls that you can buy premade?
i was at bob’s red mill the other day and i got a 4 oz whole wheat pearl couscous sample; what in the world to do with it? and how? any ideas please?
oh and a bag of baby red potatoes – don’t know what to do with those either.
Oh gosh that sounds so scary! I’ve not hit anything yet and I’m terrified of it happening!
Those pumpkin scones sound amazing, I haven’t had scones in a long time and now I have a serious craving for some.
As always Adrienne looks absolutely adorable, I can’t believe how much she’s grown already!
I love getting updates about her
