This is the second cake I’ve made this week.
Meeker has requested two in the last two days. My heart is singing.
While making the first one, I ran out of eggs and had to run (barefoot and flour-covered) to the neighbors to borrow one from them. I promised them an egg and a slice of cake as repayment. However, that first cake was taken to Meeker’s parents house for birthday dinner, and gobbled up too quickly to share with the neighbors.
So, I made another cake. This one is just a basic yellow cake with chocolate frosting and you can probably find the recipe in any dessert cookbook in America. The neighbors got two slices of this one + the borrowed egg. Apparently I set myself up on a cake interest plan.
Want to come be my next door neighbor? The house next to us is for sale…

Baby A is way more incentive to be your neighbor than cake. But the cake does look delicious.
Haha, whatever gets you here…
I need cake more than a house. It’s been awhile. So, cake it is! (But, how and where is the question.)
Since Monday …… cravin a one layer-type chocolate/fudge cake. Just a slice or two will be fine.
Whenever my eyeballs see a picture of something …. my brain tells me it is very necessary.
Going into the month of May … I have not had a decent cupcake since Christmas.
The thing is …. if I bake a (butter) cake (from scratch naturally) …. then what? Yeah. I eat it all. Not good.
That’s why you have to give some to you neighbors.
Don’t even joke, I’ll show up at your door with an empty plate! Especially if there are sprinkles involved
No joking here…seriously come by the house next door to me.
House for sale…hmmmm…
I knowwwww.
I so wish we could move back to Colorado:) Especially if it meant getting a piece of cake as beautiful as this;)
And especially if it meant YOU’D be my next door neighbor! Our babies would have a blast together. Make it happen.
Why don’t you set me up with Meeker’s brother and have him buy us the house next door? Sounds like a plan to me.
Hahaha! I love it. You are brilliant.
Yes please! I often bring baked treats to friends who live close by and was trying to recruit people to move into the available house across the street with no luck. Colorado here I come…
I don’t want to come be your next door neighbor, but I DO want to come live with you!! Isn’t that the better option for you!? Haha.
That is THE best possible scenario.
Haha PHEW! I was hoping you’d say that
As long as there is ice cream to go along with that cake!
You bring the ice cream and call it a party.
That looks delicious! I wish I was your neighbor!
This cake looks amazing! Yellow cake with chocolate frosting is kinda a dream of mine and I’ve never gotten around to making one yet… maybe for my birthday!
I love that you borrowed an egg from your neighbor!! I’m constantly driving two miles up the street to my parent’s house to borrow sugar, flour, or vanilla!
I want the house next door!
…and I want you there.
Dang, I wish I was that close with my neighbors. Unfortunately they are of the holy-crap-do-you-ever-come-out-of-your-house-you-are-creepy variety. I’d love to move next door to you!
I want the house next door! My neighbor always laughs at the mess I am when I come over asking for an ingredient. Seriously…I am the messiest baker ever I think! Love the simplicity of yellow cake and chocolate frosting. It’s my husband’s favorite too!
