It’s that time of year where I need to have something warm in my hands.
At all times.
For the next eight months.
So yesterday, while I was watching the first episode Downton Abby (I know. Welcome to 2010.), and I was wrapped in a blanket wearing one of Meeker’s largest sweaters, I thought some tea would be really nice right now.
So I started boiling two cinnamon sticks and a few dried apricots in water and went back to watching.
About ten minutes later, I added a tablespoon of maple syrup and a tiny amount of vanilla.
Finished with a splash of milk (lemon would be good too!) – and I was downright cozy.
And even though I had previously fallen asleep during the first episode of Downton Abby (um, three separate times), I’m happy to report that I made it through the first episode. And the second, and third and fourth and now I’m officially hooked.
On tea and the show.

I’ve never seen Downton Abbey either. Nor have I seen Mad Men. So I get a big welcome to 2008 when I start watching!
I just watched Mad Men this year too. It also took me a while to get into, but it ended up being one of my all time favorite shows!
atta girl! told you it was great!!
check your library for more seasons!
Why didn’t I think of the library?! Of course. Thank you, friend!
Great photos!! Love those Bodum glasses. We have them, too.
Sounds like a delicious fall drink!
I remember! Didn’t we drink smoothies out of them together?
(Oh, and you saying my photos are great makes me life)
I just realized that Season 2 of Downton Abbey is on instant video thru Amazon Prime. It was raining here yesterday, so I spent my afternoon watching FOUR episodes of season 2! Curled up on the couch with tea and a snuggly cat, of course. We’re definitely in the tea-time part of the year.
Downton totally touches that part of me that loved Anne of Green Gables and American Girl dolls and The Little Princess and The Secret Garden as a little girl
ah I JUST started watching Downton Abbey literally two days ago on netflix. And as I type this, I’m about to press start to the last episode of season 1! proof that my mom is always right (shes been raving about it for about 3 years now) and its perfect to watch with a cupa tea!
It’s existed for three years??!
(my mom always raved about it, too…those mamas know whats up)
I’ve been LOVING hot tea lately. I have at least a mug or two each day. I fell asleep during the first episode of Downton Abbey last week too… I’m going to try again this week and see how it goes.
I had to try it twice more…stick with it,it get’s more interesting!
I JUST started Downton Abbey with my free 1 week Hulu trial. Tea + Downton Abbey seem to go perfectly together.
Downton Abbey is the besssssst!!!!! I’m so excited for you!
Downtown Abbey is AMAZING! It’s the closest thing to a soap opera I’ve ever gotten hooked on. The first day I watched, I went through 11 straight episodes while lying at home not feeling well. Best way to spend a day ever. Although I wouldn’t mind that tea, either!
After you finish Downtown Abbey, you might like a 90s British drama called “House of Eliot” – similarly addictive British television with period costumes and captivating characters.
Thank you for the recommendation!
okay, i think i need to get into this downtown abbey. Brew some tea and we can watch together. How fun would that be?
The most fun. Get over here to Colorado.
LOVE Downton Abbey! Check out these adorable paper dolls you can print out and play with until Season 3 begins!

I’m OBSESSED with the show. OBSESSED. Just wait until Season 2. Ugh.
And oh hey, I’ll take that tea.
I’ve been wanting to get into Downton Abbey ever since they won a crapload of Emmys last year! I am totally a tea > coffee person (coffee makes me cray cray), so this sounds just lovely.
Mmmm, that looks very comforting.
Don’t worry you are still ahead of me! I’ve wanted to watch it, but we don’t have Netflix, nor a laptop, nor almost anything techy, so I’m going to have rent it or something!
That tea sounds awesome right now, I’ve got a killer sore throat:(
i hear i really need to get into downtown abbey, but have ZERO time! is it worth it?
I think it is, but it DID take me a while to get into. I wasn’t really hooked until the end of the 2nd episode, and they’re an hour long…so it’s kind of a commitment.
ohhh! i have the sorest throat today and reading this post soothed it a bit through the screen.
I need to check out show! I’m dying over this tea!! I so wish we could have a cup together!
