1. I had to harvest all the tomatoes out of our garden yesterday because it is supposed to snow this weekend. What should I do with all the green ones? Is there anything besides fried green tomatoes?
2. Yesterday I ate three large heads of broccoli and a slice of cake for lunch. With coffee.
3. I want to make this pretty cake and this pumpkin bark and this soup and this bread.
4. This book is changing my perspective and I love it. I also love this girl for sending it to me.
5. We’re almost ready to announce the details for BLEND 2013. You should start getting excited.
6. During Adrienne’s naptime yesterday, I gave myself a haircut. Hey, bangs.

Green tomatoes are lovely on sandwiches, especially veggie ones!
I LOVE the hair cut!
Pickle the tomatoes! There’s a restaurant that does it where I live and I loooove them!
I love your hair! I got bangs yesterday too…but my girl cut them too short. Aargh! My mom used to make green tomato relish…
Hot mama! You look gorgeous (as always).
Very beautiful!
this book…tell me more!!
I have heard SO MANY friends say good things about One Thousand Gifts- and now you too! I can’t stand it anymore- I HAVE to read this book!
Leave the greens in a box or paper bag…..or counter they will turn red! That is what I used to do. I love the new hair do!!!
Pretty lady!!! Love the bangs! Thanks so much for the link love. I would share the soup if you lived closer!! And doughnuts…
I’d gladly take both.
Pickled green tomatoes are amazing. They’re a Jewish thing I think because my family would always get them. They usually serve them at Jewish delis along with regular pickles. So good!!
love your bangs! Can’t wait to hear about Blend details, definitely want to go this yr!
Love love love the hair. I started reading that book but I had to return it to the library! Boo! I am currently reading God Never Blinks and I really like it! It’s 50 little lessons (short chapters) and is just so sweet. Really makes you think!
Broccoli and cake – the perfect balance. And of course coffee. Always coffee and cake. Loving the new bangs! As for the green tomatoes, I found a great article here:http://www.thekitchn.com/what-can-i-cook-with-green-tom-147963
Love the bangs….very stylish!! Can’t wait to hear Blend details. Have a great weekend!
I always put my green tomatoes in the basement on a shelf or table and they slowly turn red over a week or so.
Your bangies are awesome. LOVE! And thanks for the share – that bark is BOMB.
Happy October, friend!
I LOVE YOUR HAIR. I swear you can pull off any hairstyle.
Pumpkin bark!?! That is something that needs to be made this weekend or I might never forgive myself.
Absolutely adore the bangs. I am having some serious jealousy going on over here. I have crazy curly hair so bangs are definitely not something I can experience, unless we flash back to the 80′s. And I’d rather not.
Broccoli is pretty much my favorite thing right now. I toss it onto a baking sheet, toss a bunch of garlic cloves with it, sprinkle with EVOO salt and pepper, and roast. Literally have eaten it almost every day for the past two weeks. The best is putting a geneours dollop of hummus on the leftovers after heating them up. Heaven in each bite.
can i pin your cute face under STUNNING? cause i want to. I am excited about blend. Hope i can be there and sponsor more again. so thankful for you. Love that book BTW
Wrap your green tomatoes in newspaper and leave them in a cool dark place and my grandma swears that they’ll turn red. It’s calling for frost in our neck of the woods and I’m going to have about 10x as many tomatoes as your photo — if you come up with any other ideas, please share!!!
PS – love, love, love your ‘do. That cut (and the bangs) suit you perfectly!
So that first picture – the tomatoes – I did the SAME thing last night. As here in Iowa we aren’t having snow yet, but we do have frosty nights. Bring them inside and find an empty area. Either lay them out and after a few days you’ll start seeing them ripen, or to move it along even quicker, cover them with newspaper (my mom does this in the garage, I just use my counter). Works like a charm!
very cute haircut!
hope you have a wonderful weekend!
And ironically, I just stumbled upon this and thought of you:

I made/ate fried green tomatoes for the first time on my birthday this year, and allowed myself to eat them all (because birthday, duh)…but I don’t know that I’ll ever do it again! So good, but so much next-day guilt. Haha.
Wait a tick….. SNOW?!
I had the same green tomato problem last year. I found some good tips here.

I made the curried green tomatos and LOVED them. I’ve also found that they’re great in chili recipes. They’re good and tart and it totally works.
LOVE the haircut! So cute!
Love the bangs and you. So glad you are reading the book…and letting it reach you!
Can’t wait to hear all about BLEND2013 and hopefully be a part of it!!
Your hair looks super adorable! And as for Blend 2013, I’m going to pee my pants I’m so excited!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE your hair!! I so wish we lived closer!! I’m so excited about Blend… I’m crossing my fingers I can come!! I want to see your face again and give you a huge hug!!
You definitely look adorable with bangs! I’m a little jealous… I have curly hair, so when I had bangs, they kind of just turned into puffy blobs on my forehead. Ha, ha. But they look VERY cute on you!
Yay for bangs!! I love them, can’t believe you did them yourself!
I’ve got a hundred green ones too… thanks for the suggestions!
Oh geez. Broccoli and cake totally =’s power lunch! Vitamins and deliciousness. Nurturing for both the body and soul
I am SO buying One Thousand Gifts. THANK you! I have needed a new book to be best friends with.
Your haircut is both gorgeous and adorable. Way to pull off both!
Love the hair!!!!! I want to go to Blend!!!! Yay!!
Love, love, love the haircut!
Green tomato bread is great, and I use them in place of tomatillos in sauces and chiles – puree now, freeze in quart bags, ready to use for bread and stuff through the winter!
That book sounds amazing – I just ordered it
.
Look how beautiful you are.
Make green tomato chutney. Recipe at simplyrecipes.Com. I made some yesterday…..delish!!!!
I love the bangs! But am not so sure about this snow thing yet.
Love your lunch! And BLEND info – I want to make it work SO badly, Katie!
AND I love your haircut! Too cute! Sometimes I wish I could do bangs…you’re rocking them!
Just saw this green tomato marmalade from Martha Stewart. Hope you found a way to use them all! http://livingblog.marthastewart.com/2012/10/not-fried-green-tomatoes.html
