Guess what I got my hands on last weekend?
CINNAMON CHIPS. Yep, they exist.
To my knowledge, these little puppies are not sold in Colorado. But, my sweet cousin who lives in Fort Worth brought me two (two!!) bags of them on her visit up here this weekend. She wouldn’t even let me pay her for them.
I’m elated.
If you’ve never had them…you need to go on the hunt. Call your relatives and friends across the country and beg them to scour their grocery stores for bags of Hershey’s cinnamon chips…and then tell them to send them my way. Kidding. I have two (almost full) bags in my pantry right now.
You should eat them yourself.
Preferably in inside of a nice flakey scone.
Cinnamon Chip Scones
PRINT Recipe
- 1 C whole wheat flour
- 1 C all purpose flour
- 1 T baking powder
- 1/3 C sugar
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 C butter
- 3/4 C milk
- 1/2 C – 1 C cinnamon chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk together the dry ingredients – flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar – together in a large bowl.
Cut the butter into little cubes, then add to the dry mixture, mushing it around with your fingers until it’s all incorporated and a coarse meal is formed.
Add the milk and the cinnamon chips and stir until a ball of dough forms.
On a floured surface, pat the dough into a disk, then cut into eight triangles like a pizza.
Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 15 – 20 minutes.

I’ve never had cinnamon chips by themselves, but I’ve had them in baked goods. THey’re delicious! I don’t even know where they sell them around here!

JEALOUS.
These are the BEST in pumpkin bread. Love ‘em!!
Oh, yes please! I love scones… and cinnamon chips! I’m glad you got some. I remember you lamenting their absence in CO quite some time ago. That’s just sad that you can’t find them there!
oh girl, they totally exist in CO! at least close to our old house in westminster…
either way, YUM!
Yesssss I’ve seen those chips! The other day at Target (of course) I bought dark chocolate & mint morsels. So excited to use them.
Oooooooooo I’m in!
OMG- cinnamon chips?! Stop it. I need some.
What a simple scone recipe! And we have those chips here….
Why have I not heard of cinnamon chips before?! And kudos for saving enough of them to actually bake with. If they were in my possession, an absurd amount would have gone bag to mouth.
First scones I ever made were cinnamon chip!
Ohhh yes, I definitely need to get my hands on some of those cinnamon chips. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen them around here, but I need to start hunting. The scones look so simple! I’m not sure why, but scones have always intimidated me so this would be the perfect recipe for my first batch.
Delicious! My scone-loving son will adore these. Thanks for sharing – I hope we have cinnamon chips here in NC.

Katie – I live in Colorado and found them at Wal-Mart. I snatched some up the second I saw them!! They are soooooo yummy!!
I worked at a coffee shop in college (umm, doesn’t everyone, right?) and they had cinnamon chip scones that were amazing. Pretty sure I ate them out of business. I haven’t had one since…this changes that!
Gotta be a place in the Bay Area that sells the chips!
These look delicious! I will be making them soon. THanks Katie!
It amazes me that some people haven’t had cinnamon chips before. Sad!
I totally sneak cinnamon chips from the bag, I just can’t help it. These scones sound simply amazing!
i mistakenly read this in the waiting room while i still had an hour left in my fasting glucose test. big mistake.
pending how my bloodwork comes back this will be made immediately.
Cinnamon chips?! I’m officially on the hunt!
Oh the scones look delicious! Especially for brunch…with coffee:)
So are cinnamon chips like cinnamon-flavored chocolate chips? Could you use plain choc chips and sprinkle some cinnamon in the batter?
As of late, I’ve been wanting to Pin pretty much every recipe / blog post you write.
These look SO yummy!
Hand over the chips.
I saw a recipe on Pinterest for churro puppy chow that calls for ‘em. I neeeeeeeed.
Oh man, these look amazing. I’ll have to be on the lookout for these. Are they vegan?
Going out and hunting down these cinna’ chips manana
Oh I have to find these chips!! I could so make this gf!!
Wow, I’ve never heard of cinnamon chips, but I need to see if they’re sold anywhere near me asap! Those scones look delicious!
OH YUM!!!! I’ve been wanting to make scones soon…
Cinnamon chips are the best! They would be perfect in soft, flaky scones. . .these are fantastic!
I made pumpkin scones last weekend but they did not turn out at all. They were soft and chewy, not how a scone is supposed to be in my mind. I think I over mixed them.
Thank goodness you have A to help you in the kitchen now! How on earth did you manage before she was born

I had never heard of cinnamon chips and got so excited when I saw this! I live in Colorado too and so I did a search on the Hershey’s website and clicked on a link for hard to find products, selected the cinnamon chips, then entered my zip code and it gave me a list of stores in my area that carry it! I can’t wait to bake with these! Thank you!
