You know that category of people who claim to not like sweets?
Yeah, I don’t understand them at all. I can’t even really understand the words that come out of their mouths after I hear them utter DESSERT and DON’T LIKE.
However, I think (ahem…I know!) I’ve figured out a way to please these types.
Put some cheese in yo’ cookies.
Hey fellow-sweet-loving-enthusiasts, stay with me. These are basically sugar cookies with some cream cheese. You’ll like them too. I’m sure of it.
Little creamy cookie pillows. For all the eaters in your life.
Spiced Sugar Cream Cheese Cookies
PRINT Recipe
- 1/3 C cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 C butter, room temperature
- 1/4 C spiced sugar**
- 3/4 C sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 1/2 C all purpose flour
- 1 t salt
**I use this kind of spiced sugar, but if you can’t find it, just add a dash of cinnamon, allspice, mace, and cardamom to one cup of white sugar and then add 1 teaspoon of vanilla to your cookie dough before you add the flour.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Cream together the butter, cream cheese, and sugars until smooth.
Then add the egg yolk and mix well.
Add the flour and salt and mix until just combined.
Scoop by tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet, press down with the palm of your hand, and bake for 15 – 17 minutes, or until the bottoms are just beginning to brown and the top is firm.
Let cool on a wire wrack.

Who doesn’t like sweets? I still don’t understand that. Though it’s probably the same group of people who don’t understand that I’m not the BIGGEST fan of salty foods…
I’m in that boat. Chips? Take them or leave them.
oh, those look delicious! excellent idea on the cream cheese addition. i’m inspired to try making a batch!
thats me!! i am not a big sweet tooth person, but cream cheese, yes! I like it. Feed me!
Those look DELISH!!!
Genius. And I always love your sous chef!
i don’t understand these people either. and travis is one of them. how we get along, I’ll never know.
So I am one of those people who doesn’t love sweets. I would much rather go to town on a bag of cheetos versus some oreos. I also don’t like my sweets really sweet (hello shortbread cookies are my favorite!)but these look good. I can take sugar cookies if they don’t have icing. Can we still be friends?
Kelly, I’ve known that your tastebuds are officially wonk for years. We ARE still friends. I love you. (also, more cookies for me!)
Spiced sugar!? I need.
I always put cream cheese in my sugar cookies! My mom taught me that long ago….now I won’t make them without! These look great.
Yes please!

I’m one of those unlucky people who not only has a massive sweet tooth, but also major salty food cravings.
These cookies look soo good. I feel like I could just pop
‘em by the handful!
SA-HOLD.
Oh yum Katie. We made cookies in school one time with ricotta cheese. They were fab.
The only problem with your recipe… I don’t think I could wait for the cream cheese to soften on it’s own.
Um, that spiced sugar sounds AMAZING. And cream cheese in anything is just, come on.
This reminds me of cream cheese mints…have you ever had those?? My aunt made them for my high school graduation party and I recently had them at a wedding–they’re amazing.
These look awesome! I hate to admit, but I’m in the boat of not LOVING sweets. I would eat an entire bag of chips in a heartbeat over anything sweet… but every so often I just want a little taste of something and these will definitely hit the spot!
I know they’re not, but those straws should be edible. If it were in my glass of milk, I would likely try to eat it even after trying and failing the first 3 times. You know, just in case it became edible since my last attempt.
I was recommended this web site by my cousin. I am not sure whether this post is written by him as no one else know such detailed about my problem. You are wonderful! Thanks!
Thanks a Lovely post!! ……………………..
