It’s officially the time to get cozy.
As you may recall, I loathe being cold. In fact, as I type this, I am wearing two pairs of pants, wool socks, boots, a t-shirt, and a sweater.
Also, our thermometer is set to seventy-one degrees. (God bless that man I’m married to)
Also, also…I’m still cold.
Which means that I need something hot in my hands (It probably also means that there is something wrong with me, but that is neither here nor there. We are talking about tea right now.)
I set about to make some chai tea, but quickly realized I didn’t have all the ingredients needed for that, so I started throwing some spices around. Ten minutes later, this beautiful little mug of warmth emerged from the kitchen.
Spiced Holiday Tea
PRINT Recipe
serves one
- 1 C water
- 1 C milk
- 1/2 t ground cinnamon
- 2 whole peppercorns
- 1/4 t ground ginger
- 3 t spiced sugar
- dash of nutmeg
- dash of allspice
- pinch of salt
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan, heat on low until hot. Remove the peppercorns (I used a strainer) and pour into a blender. Blend on high until frothy.

What kind of tea did you use?
I didn’t use any tea…just spices!
i’ll be over in a sec for tea.
Air mail me some?
I love your pretty mug! Where’d you buy it?
I don’t remember actually…I’ve had it forever. Sorry!
Wow, that sounds really delicious!! I can’t wait to try it. I just added spiced sugar to my grocery list!
Why again is this not being poured down my throat right now?
I don’t mind the cold, but I would love this cup of goodness no matter what the weather!
Ah, what a beautiful recipe and such pretty pictures! Your blog is gorgeous and I came here because of Lindsay…although I think I’ve been here a looooong time ago?! Not sure, but if I’m forgetting I apologize!
omgsh, yes I have! dohhh silly me. You just now have a baby, and your blog just looks completely different! haha.
Bless you for blending this to make it frothy. THAT is my kind of tea.
Sounds like fall in a cup! Yum.
love this idea of spiced tea – i think i’ll try it with almond milk!
What a cute mug!! (And of course, the tea looks pretty good too.)
I think there is something wrong with me due to the ALWAYS cold thing too!! I would never think to just “make up” my own tea – you are so creative!
There’s something wrong with me too. I’m on my third cup of hot liquid today. I make homemade “eggnog” the same way–almond milk, vanilla, nutmeg, sugar. Done.
Can I come over?? I’m freezing here too. Let’s just pack up Adrienne, the boys, and move ourselves someplace warm for winter! mmkay?
I wish my house was kept that warm!!! Luckily I use my baby as an excuse to keep the heat on more
. Sounds like a tasty holiday drink!
I’m always cold too!! It’s gets old so fast, but the good news is I’ve nearly convinced my husband to move to California! (we live in Minnesota now. bleh.)
*if I don’t have/use peppercorns do you think that’ll make too much of a difference?
omw this sounds amaingly deliciuos!
i love it!
where do you come up with this idea!
do you have to use a whole cup of water and whole cup milk?
could u do half cups of each?
V
this sounds deeelicious! and i love these pictures with the ground cinnamon!!
<3 ya!
I have taken note that of all varieties of insurance, health insurance coverage is the most marked by controversy because of the issue between the insurance plan company’s duty to remain making money and the consumer’s need to have insurance plan. Insurance companies’ earnings on health and fitness plans are extremely low, so some companies struggle to gain profits. Thanks for the suggestions you share through this blog.
Hey there, You have performed a great job. I will certainly digg it and in my opinion recommend to my friends. I am sure they will be benefited from this site.
Two recipes in a row that I want to make right now. You know I love snow, but I really am cold-natured too. We just run the fireplace all the time – it’s awesome. And eat and drink lots of hot stuff.
71 degrees and tea…I think I could live at your house forever. I fought my husband and still only got the thermostat to 67. I can’t ever get warm!
Looooooooooove!
Your pictures are amazing and I desperately want to be holding that in my hand right now!
