Roasted Orange Slices
Alright. Stick with me on this one.
I’m trying to eat less sugary things. Fruit doesn’t count. I’m talking cakes, cookies, candy, you know.
Not because it’s a new year (although, if I’m honest, those Christmas cookie exchanges might have had something to do with the decision), and not because I want to lose weight. Sort of because my teeth are awful and always hurt. But mostly, I just feel like reigning in my crazy sweet tooth that seems to take over at every meal. I don’t know..ask me in a week. I may have changed my mind.
But until then. I roasted some oranges.
Simple. Easy. Cheap. Sweet. Healthy. Delicious.
(oh, and on the teeth subject…my dentist told me last year that I needed to eat less citrus. So, this is actually not helping that situation AT ALL)
Roasted Orange Slices
- 2-3 oranges, sliced (like your mom used to do at halftime for soccer games)
- 1 T honey
- sprinkling of cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350. Drizzle honey over oranges and sprinkle with cinnamon. Roast for 20 minutes, or until they look puffy and juice and magnificent.

Oranges are so good this time of year… and my dentist has told me for a few years to eat less fruit and especially sitrus, I have to use special toothpaste…? I have a bad sweet tooth too…

Oooh I love this idea!! I never would have thought to do that…but I love that you did for me so I didn’t have to
Hope your teeth feel better – hurting teeth are THE WORST! Maybe it’s just sympathy teething for A?

Haha, hopefully! They are just really sensitive…nothing too terrible. But when I eat sugar, it’s the worst, they just ache. Maybe it’s my bodies way of telling me to eat more vegetables.

I’m most impressed by the way you cute those oranges! Slicing citrus is one of those “adult” things I’m still waiting to figure out.

interesting! I’m trying to eat less sweets too (chocolate, baked goods, etc.), but because of those holiday treats. Fruit is definitely on the okay list though.
