{before I forget, if you are interested in going to BLEND, don’t forget that tickets go on sale SUNDAY @ 8 PM EST. Click HERE.)
Let’s have a chat. I brought coffee.
I love this blog, and I love you for reading it, but my priorities need some tweaking. My amazing, brilliant daughter is getting more active (and hilariously fun) every single day. My dear, sweet husband who already works seven days a week has decided to go back to school this semester (super, super proud of him), and I have taken on some bigger volunteering responsibilities with our church.
You know, life is busy. I know yours is too.
On top of that all, little miss Adrienne Bren has decided that napping isn’t really her thing anymore. She naps a few times a week, but I don’t have the consistency of those two hours every afternoon like I used to when she was a wee one. And I’m okay with that. I love her more than anything ever, and the reason I didn’t go back to teaching after she was born was because I wanted my family to be my number one priority. I think she and Meeker deserve my full attention, ya know?
This is definitely not a goodbye. This is a will-you-please-hang-on-while-I-get-organized-for-a-second? Like I said, I like this gig. A lot. It provides me with a creative outlet that I adore. But I’m just not sure how much time I can dedicate to it in this current season of my little life. That’s all I’m trying to figure out.
Don’t worry, I’ll be back on Monday with something delicious. I’ve got the baking bug, and you’re going to benefit from it. Lucky you.
As always, I love you for reading. Thank you, thank you, thank you [and happy weekend].

in the same boat….
you two, really, amaze me! I will never leave. In fact, I am here for you both even more! supporting motherhood! thank YOU for being a great example.
xxoo
Totally agree. AMAZED by moms and you two are at the top of my amazement list.
Take all the break time you need – I’ll be around and will always come back (to both of your blogs if you take a break too, Lindsay W!).
Love ya girl! Do your thing for your family and come around when you can. Meanwhile, I can.not.freaking.WAIT.for.BLEND!!
This makes complete sense to me! I’ll love reading whenever/whatever you share. Lotsa love and hugs to you and yours, Katie!!! xoxo
you are not allowed to have any of your own time to do what you want. ever.
Can always count on you to tell it like it is.
You do YOU, as my friend says! I completely understand. I still have a hard time with consistent blogging, because LIFE gets in the “way”.
Have a happy weekend!
<3
As you know God, your husband and your daughter are your top priorities. You take all the time you need. I think we all wish we had more time to devout to something “fun” in our life…i.e….our blogs! Can’t wait to see your baked good on Monday.
PS – you have something coming in the mail….it is LONG overdue and I feel like such an *($%! for forgetting to mail it over a month ago!
I JUST finished the same post! Only my post is about less time because of my new social work job, which has just kind of changed my priorities. Oh and its also a bit differnt because I have like 5 followers instead of 5000.
. Your blog is the cutest though – and Adrienne is one very lucky little gal! xoxo
Remember when I told you I tried to maintain 2 blogs, 2 kids, homeschooling, life and living? I suppose it can be done but most days I wanted to play in dough, hang out, swim with the kids, build things, go places and visit with friends. This is YOUR season…savor it, enjoy it and grow from it.
I’ll be reading whenever you post.
You know that saying that the best friends are the ones you don’t have to speak to all the time and when you do it’s like nothing has changed?!
Looking forward to Monday’s post!
I went through this at the end of last year, and although I don’t have it figured out, I’m getting better. I’ve taken the pressure off myself to post, backed off my mental schedule of what I have to do., and that helped so much! I don’t know if that will help you, but thought I’d share!
I appreciate it. Even writing this post helped me take the pressure off of myself!
We love you and will definitely hang on for a bit!
You do what you gotta do, girl! If your attention needs to shift, let it! It’s better to focus on the most important things and not spread yourself too thin. It can make a person crazy! Love you! xo
You would know, crazy lady!
I’ll be here whenever you are. Family is the most important…always!
Oh I love you!!! I so wish we were chatting over coffee! Can May come soon enough??
Of course sweetie!! Take all the time you need!
Awww. I will miss you and little miss. You make my day so many days!! But you have to put your family first!! So take your time and enjoy them. That sweet girl is growing so fast…take it all in and just love every minute!! We will all be here for you when you can check in!!
Well done.

Family is number one….I’m on the other side….caring for parents…but family is family. Follow your heart…..blessings!
I’ve been on that side too, actually. Thank you! Blessings to you as well.
I know you only by this blog, but as a mom, a wife, a woman, a christian, and a baker (of course!), you are an inspiration to me. This sounds so silly, but I usually read your blog posts (even the ones with only recipes) for inspiration and encouragement for my own life. Your attitude and love for life shines through your posts and I love it. (Even though you’ve had some unbelievably unfair times.)
Anyways, what I want to say is take your time, keep enjoying life and cake, and I’ll keep reading!
My daughter is a little less than a year younger than Adrienne so it’s been great following her growing up and becoming a toddler
Family is always number one!
My blog goes off and on with posting regularity these days depending on how busy I am. But I still have fun with it! And the good news is that my regular readers still return when I come in from a bout of being away (the same will be true for you!) Definitely feel good about balancing out the time you spend on the blog with the time that you’re able to spend with your beautiful family.
Don’t GOOOO! I’m just kidding. I know you’ll be around. I’ll miss you though! xoxoxo.
I have to say that I kinda expected this eventually. Your sweet family and you come first! So glad to hear that you’re slowing it down here before you get so burnt out that you had to give it up entirely. Plus, your virtual peace offering of coffee was pretty adorable.
Oh, Katie! I am sending a huge virtual hug to you… yes, and a little misting in my eyes. I admire you so much and I am very proud of you, your family and your life. With all love and great support and, no pressure, but maybe a coffee date in the future? I have missed you! xoxoxo
You’re setting a great example but taking some time to put your focus where it needs to be, or even to figure that out. I can completely understand how in-your-head blogging can get, and it feels so good to step away for a while…Enjoy this time to breath a little deeper, pray a little harder, and do something special just for YOU.
you go spend some quality time with that sweet family of yours. you deserve it, they deserve it. XO. will miss you!
Totally understandable!! I struggle with finding time to blog, and I don’t have any wee little ones yet. You take all the time you need in order to get organized. And we’ll all understand if you have to blog less frequently. I love that your family is your priority!!!!
I have been reading your blog for a long while now (I loved the stories about your funny third graders), and I have to say your blog is one of my absolute favorites. You are truly a wonderful inspiration to women, a beautiful mother, a lovely writer, & stunning photographer. As a reader, I appreciate your honesty, and that is what will keep me coming back. Thank you for touching many lives in a positive light through your blog <3
Enjoy your time with your family!!!
There should be blogging seasons. I mean, everyone else gets a break, so why not you? I’m just considering this the YIWC season finale and I’ll be excited when the previews come out for the next premier. Just promise no ridiculous cliffhangers, okay?
Who wouldn’t want to spend more time with that precious baby! Props to you
Love you friend! Totally understand where you’re coming from.
Well done sister well done. I have not started to blog for exactly that reason. I am dealing with keeping the balance in my own life. Seek the kingdom and all these things will be added. Your choices speak loudly of who you serve. Amen. Love to you!
I rarely comment but always read. Your blog is one of my favorites and I send you blog posts to my friends saying I hope I’m like you when I’m a mom (fun, creative, laid back, and most importantly putting your family first) !
I have the same problem. So many ideas and things I want to add to my site but just not enough time. My lil guy is demanding and wants me next to him every second he’s awake. And the naps aren’t consistent anymore like you said. I’ll be here and I’m most positive we will ALL be here. Because you are Fabulous!
[...] hey. You guys are the best. Thank you so much for all of your supportive comments on Friday. You sure know how to make a girl feel [...]
I like what you guys are up too. Such intelligent work and reporting! Keep up the excellent works guys I have incorporated you guys to my blogroll. I think it’ll improve the value of my website
Running a household is the best/most exhausting/AWESOME job ever. You are amazing at it. I definitely cut down on my weekly posts, because I want to remember this time of my kids’ lives. When they’re hormonal teenagers that hate me, then I think I’ll have a little bit more blogging time. Don’t mind me, I’ll just be here stalking my reader waiting for your return
Good for Meeker! That is a very brave and exciting thing to do.
I, of course, love your blog. But as a regular reader I also know how much your family means to you. I’ll be patiently waiting (my new semester starts today so I will be running around like a chicken with my head cut off the next few months myself!) and wishing you the best on your organization journey.
I hear you. I’ve definitely had to scale back myself as well – life takes priority! And we’ll always be here when you pop in
And YAY FOR MEEKER!!! That makes me so happy!! Tell him congrats!
Love you friend.
I’m ok with this only if you continue to update your instagram with cute pics of A, daily at least, if not hourly.. Thanks
