floor number line

number hop

I think this is our favorite learning activity that we’ve done thus far.

I used masking tape to make the numbers one through five on our kitchen floor (planning on making six through ten next week). Then put corresponding shapes (one triangle on number one, two dots on number two, etc) and the number words on each box…not that she can read the words, but you know. It can’t hurt.

Every time I’m cooking or doing dishes, I yell out instructions:

 Go jump on number two!

Good job! Now hop to number five and count the stars.

Okay, put your tiger on number one.

Hop backwards…five, four, three, two, one!

It’s been so fun for both of us. She loves hopping and running around, and I love seeing her learn with a smile on her face.
