For those of us (me) who aren’t drinking coffee at the moment (snoooooze), I’ve made us a little something.
Something pumpkiny and cinnamony.
Something not too sweet, but sweet enough to perk up a chilly mid-afternoon slump.
Oh, speaking of afternoons, the first thing Adrienne says every time I go get her from her nap – she’s not ever really napping – is well, I’m a little sad because I miss my daddy (that’s verbatim…with the well in front and everything). My heart goes squish every time and I suggest we draw him a picture for when he gets home, or look at a picture of him, or call him, or drink a warm mug of pumpkin spiced almond milk. Sometimes all four…
…and the result is always a (full mouthed) smile.
Pumpkin Spiced Almond Milk
- 2 mugs of almond milk
- 2 T pumpkin puree
- 2-3 T maple syrup (depending on how sweet you like it)
- 1 t cinnamon
- dash of nutmeg
- dash of pumpkin pie seasoning
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 t vanilla
Combine everything except for the vanilla in a small saucepan over medium low heat. Whisk until heated through. Add the vanilla. Serve with more cinnamon if ya want. I always want.
